I've decided to buy some for the winter months when my leccy bill will be sky high.
Which scent should I go for, and what's the best thing to do by candlelight?
(I'll probably be freezing so nothing with no clothes on.) |

Glade - honey and chocolate is lovely and you can get them for £1.40 in Bodycare.
DW - good variety in TK Maxx. A little pricier but much bigger candles. I love the eucalyptus one best. |

"I like the Vanilla and Sandalwood ones from B&M or the Aldi Ones that come out in Winter. Really good value and smell great. "
I think the winter scents are more my thing.
I'm not fond of vanilla or those laundry ones. |

"Aldi ones in a jar. They last long enough to get really fed up of them .
"
I'm thinking of trying to take up my knitting again, so a big one would be useful.
I might become nose blind after a while, anyway. |

You need to be really careful as a lot of scented candles are actually toxic if they do not use organic/natural essential oils or do not use natural wax.
You will be poisoning yourself. No joke. Yankee candles are the worst. |

I have a box of assorted pillar candles and tealights under my bed. I can't recall why But in the past, Wilko have always had a good selection of reasonably priced candles. |

Yankee candles are best they burn even compared to cheaper ones we have a yankee candle shop at a shopping outlet nearby that do them bit cheaper! Although tbh tescos and sainsburys prices good I do get discount at both ! And even amazon have some good prices on them x |

Now I’m wondering how many years I’ve shaved off my life as it’s likely poisoning me "

When you're pregnant you get to do a breath thing that measures carbon dioxide in you. It's supposedly to keep you safe but mainly to make smokers feel guilty. But anyway, my midwife told me about one woman who had very high levels. She didn't smoke. It was so high they got an engineer out to check their boiler, couldn't understand it. Eventually it was discovered she burned a lot of candles at home. I've no interest in candles, but that was pretty off-putting |

So, if candles are bad for our health, what would be a safer alternative in trying to minimize electricity usage to light our homes this winter? Or, as some newspapers have recently suggested that the government is considering, we do end up having 'planned' blackouts? |

Not bad for your health if you buy natural ones with lead-free wicks.
An analogy is burning plastic or tyres on a fire, you wouldn’t.
Only reason I know this is because I did the accounts for an ethical candle business. I used to burn the shit ones too! |

"Ooh I love a candle.
I like those ones that sound like a crackling fire, I can't do overly scented ones though.
They sound nice. Save me actually lighting my fire."
They are good, though don't forget you have them like I did one night and spent about half an hour wondering what the heck the noise was. |

Weirdly I don’t like vanilla normally either, but that one with the sandalwood is so good. I got it bought as a gift and turned my nose up because it’s vanilla, but now it’s my fave.
The winter ones last year in Aldi were gorgeous. |
