We receive quite a few messages that are written in text language.
We find it a total turn off. Maybe we are just old fashioned lol
What's people's thoughts on use of text language in here?
Don't mind it or okay with it.

As far as I'm concerned, text speak arose when it cost 10p a text message so there was an imperative to cramp as much into a message as possible. This is no longer the case and thus text speak should now be committed to the great void of things that have been and gone. I feel that people who still use text speak are lazy, stupid or both. |

I don’t mind the acronyms but with autocorrect it’s harder to actually type like that. Young people don’t even do it now. I find it’s people in the 30-50 age range do it more. |

"So I'm not adverse to it, but usually when its things like 'lol' or 'brb' is what I find acceptable.
What does brb stand for? ( old person here )
Be right back x"

It's messages like this
"hw r u? Wuup2?"

I think under 30s use slang and maybe a few abbreviations like omw, wyd or imo but general text speak I haven’t come across. When I have it’s been people in their late 30s to early 40s.

A few of my friends still do it. Even on social media and it makes me cringe so badly. |

I guess the question is, what purpose does it serve? Surely it is just someone not making an effort?
Conversation is crucial for me ahead of meeting someone so good, well composed chat goes a long way!
Having grown up in the text speak era, it just doesn’t do anything for me |
