Bumping into Santa if I needed to go for a wee on Christmas Eve . I was terrified. Had to shout my mum or dad to take me to the loo

Somewhere In The Ether…

Lots of children’s TV including that googly eyed bugger, Zippy from Rainbow.

Also some of the illustrations in Ladybird books - most notably the depiction of the troll in The Three Billygoats Gruff (it was a bloody terrifying looking bastard!)

When the powers at be would test the flood warning siren it would invoke absolute terror in me as it was the same as an air raid siren from the movies.

Jaws - I flat refused to use the bath for weeks afterwards because I feared the shark getting me. I was a smelly kid.

I still fear the open ocean to this day too. I refuse to wade any further than my ankles at the coast.

A folly on the way back from my grans house. Happened to tell my teacher as a kid it was lit up (not normal back my way in the 80's) and he said it was ghosts. I was blinking terrified for years, used to have to close my eyes as we drove past in winter.

I don't recall being particularly scared by anything. I wasn't (and am not) keen on swimming in the sea if there's jellyfish but when I saw a girl on holiday when I was about 11, who'd been stung by jellyfish, it made perfectly rational sense to me and still does. Her leg was a horrible mess and she spent several nights in hospital.

And that decidedly bloody creepy, German accented, pineapple haired ‘baby’ thing

Side note: Is it just me or did Dr Tiger Ninestein bear an uncanny resemblance to Kevin Sorbo?

Dogs. When I was about 7 years old I was walking home from school across a field when a group of 5 dogs were running wild on the field. They ran into me and sent me flying. I wasn't bitten but I'm still wary of dogs to this day!

This.

I love swimming, but even now I get this overwhelming fear that a shark is going to pop out of a vent in the swimming pool! I'm funny about the sea too, need to be able to see the bottom! Sometimes I would get brave and venture further out, until something (prob sea) would touch my foot and then I'd nope it all the way back to the shore!!
