The Spaniards are banning shops and public areas with air con from lowering the temperature below 27 degrees and heating buildings above 19 degrees. 27 is unbearably hot for many.

What's going on in Spain guys ?

For some reason I read that as the Spanish ban Con Air and I'm a little disappointed now...

Aircon is a huge contributor to CO2 emissions. Big old cyclical problem though, use aircon to cool down but it is causing things to heat up.....it won't ever end.

What is going on indeed.

Why don’t you tell us what’s going on? I can’t be arsed to look up the story. I’m tired and hungry, my priorities are there right now.

If air con is lowering the temperature I'm guessing it'll be hotter outside. What are these poor souls doing out if it's unbearable?

If snowflakes can't handle 27 degrees, they shouldn't be in Spain

Is it to due to reducing energy consumption Because of the gas shortage and a requirement to build up reserves and a knock on effect atom the Russian invasion of Ukraine

I think Germany have a similar problem

It's perfectly tolerable in buildings designed for the Spanish climate. I attended a week of uni classes in Toledo at the start of July. Temps outdoors were 40-42°C most days. The uni classroom was not air conditioned but it was perfectly fine.

The other 19 people on the course (various ages) seemed to cope, as did the staff. Spanish buildings are designed to be cool and airy, not well insulated like UK ones. It's also generally a lot less humid.

Presumably Mrs KC didn't write the new regulations which causes me to suspect there's more than one person's opinion involved here.

All part of the green agenda in the western world. High fuel prices and food prices, everything is linked to the green agenda to make you cut back, and go green.

Expect more of this and many things in the UK soon. Electric cars is the first step.

Well on one hand you usually say that everything is based on peer reviewed science but when you give an opinion based on conjecture and representing the opinions of others which you obviously have not recorded or canvassed but then called out on your own standards then you get defensive..

Double standards and hypocrisy

Some might say...

Made the mistake of visiting Seville (the frying pan of Spain) in August one year. 46c. Never experienced anything quite like it - it rather spoiled the trip.
