What's your favourite thing to barbecue?
Jump to: Newest in thread
We've just got a gas barbecue, really looking forward to trying it! What should we cook? Give me your best barbecue recipes! We're not really fish eaters, we'll try most other things though. And while we're at it, we have some venison steaks in the freezer, do they barbecue well? |

Asparagus or tenderstem brocoli or garlic scapes wrapped in parma ham or pancetta.
Sweet pointed peppers stuffed with cream cheese.
Sweetcorn served with chilli, lemon/lime and salt.
Pineapple sprinkled with brown sugar served with a slug of dark rum.
Peaches or nectarines served with mascarpone. |

Pork shoulder steaks with a garlic and gyros rub for me. They don't need too long and lovely with a nice char but still lovely and juicy.
Either that or homemade burgers. Mince, finely chopped onions, paprika, garlic powder, mixed herbs. Sear in a pan first to make sure they don't fall apart and then cook on the bbq |

Venison is good, but depends on how you like your meat cooked....should be pink!
I've done whole trout in foil, with slices of lemon and herbs.
Wood pigeon breasts, partridge and pheasants all do well.
Rabbits works well too
Just don't burn whatever you do!!! |

With the gas you get more moisture retained in the meat which is a big bonus.
I'd recommend basically seasoning the meat and basting with whatever marinade of your choice nearer the end of the cook.
Try thick steaks seasoned with salt and mixed pepper and paprika. Chicken portions in cajun seasoning and jerk pork. |
