Have you ever felt like you're, mentally, in a happy place?
Last week I went up to Aberdeen, for work, and drove through miles and miles of utterly gorgeous greenery. I came away from a 700 mile round trip feeling fresh and my batteries recharged
What's your happy place or your go to phrase/words of advice that keep you on the straight and narrow/charge your mental batteries?
For fear of sounding boring I also like boobs. They're great wireless chargers when my head's in between them |

"Totally! I went trail running and wild swimming in Wales at the weekend and I will not shut up about it because it was epic. "
Wild swimming is the best - especially when you don’t have a swim suit! |

That's awesome! I'm less of the running or swimming but I'm looking into hiking through Scotland and doing some wild camping. Your weekend sounds awesome! |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Absolutely, OP.
I felt my joy and energy growing on the drive to Lyme Regis. Stopping at Felicity's Farm Shop and having the best ice-cream cone I've ever had, sitting outside and drinking in the view. Driving towards the sea I could barely contain my existential orgasm.
I felt sated watching the solstice sunset on the beach.
Sex would be nice too for a somatic orgasm (it's been a while).

"That's awesome! I'm less of the running or swimming but I'm looking into hiking through Scotland and doing some wild camping. Your weekend sounds awesome!"
My advice would be go in late May, weather tends to be stable, the gorse is in full flower, there are cuckoos calling everywhere, the midges haven't got going and some mountains will still have patches of snow. If I had to pick a happy place it would be Torridon in May.

Love the Ogwen Valley, one of our favourite campsites is just up the road from there. The only spoiler (and it's hypocritical of me to complain) is how incredibly crowded it's become over the last decade

Physically, sitting on a little pier on the west coast of Ireland looking out across the North Atlantic and digging my toes in the soft sand of a small beach on a peninsula of the west coast of Scotland that points towards Northern Ireland.
If I can’t get to those places, music fills the cracks in my soul be it loud in the car on a little journey to the coast or a live gig and my bare feet in the grass |

Oh Aberdeenshire for me as well! Actually there are a few places but if you drive out of Aberdeen, through Cults and head South towards Banchory past Peterculter through there are some beautiful, beautiful locations that feed my soul and actually stop my mind from constantly being active.
I have a real love of the woodlands and greenery and I'm going forest bathing with a dear friend very soon to reset. |

Jervaulx in North Yorkshire is probably my happy place, or Wensleydale in general. I'm a bit off-kilter at the moment and could really do with a visit, but high fuel prices means I can't justify the expense of driving there. |

Weirdly, the car parks were full but the lake was empty of people. I'm guessing everyone was off walking and climbing mountains. |

Scotland is amazing and I got that giddy feeling driving around the place.
Loved every minute of it, found a couple of lovely short hikes into hill and woods and I felt at home.
That charges my batteries |

You had me at solstice sunset
Something about the sun sets me right. I suffer from (S.A.D. - Seasonal Affective Disorder) so as soon as I feel the sun I'm a new gal. I've seen a few sunrises but I've always been driving. It's a dream of mine to do a night time climb of a mountain and watch the sunrise from the summit. I feel like that would be a real healing process |

"I like being by the sea. I have some wonderful memories of holidays to Leysdown as a child.

I cannae swim so the majority of the sea is not my friend but the sight and sound of waves lapping against the shore has helped me many a time. I'm glad it brings back such happy memories for you |

Thanks Mr NBVN, I was wondering how I'd get the inside edge on the weather and this is exactly what I needed. Thanks for the advice! |

Used to go running a lot to sort my head out but knees shot now so that’s out of the question
I walk our dog that’s a good relaxation method but the best is ridding my motorbike that really is my space |

Ahh music! The long forgotten healer of my soul. I used to have a playlist for this very purpose before i could drive. What sort of music is your go to? I always gravitated to a song called Breathe by an artist called Delilah, so soft and gentle |

Out with my grandsons who are still too young to hate kinda sets me up. Only the other week I took the boys to a play park where the elderly one met up with some school pals. One of his school pals said, "Who's that man there Jack?" Our Jack replied, "That's my grandpa." Then the little boy came up to me and asked, "Are you really Jack's grandpa?" Of course I replied, "Yes, I'm Jack's grandpa," and the little boy looked up at me and said, "Corr, you look cool for a grandpa, my grandpa's old!" And that really set me up for the week ahead secure in the knowledge that I'm, "Grandpa Cool." |

"Happiest when near the ocean or wandering through the forest "
Forests the crunch of branches underfoot and the swish of leaves as you pass is a whole audiological mood. Beautiful choice!
PS. If audiological wasn't a word before then it is now. This is my thread. Fuck off with your real dictionaries |

I love you for coming through with Aberdeenshire tips
Forest bathing sounds amazing! Is it literally as simple as finding a well/spring in a forest and getting in? Exacuse my ignorance but it's a new one on me |

Ah, a kindred spirit it definitely is that 'at home' feeling. Something so perfectly peaceful and content about the place |

Northampton Somewhere |
I love a nice walk in the middle of nowhere with or without my furry friend. Our walk this evening took us over fields, through a wood where I caught a glimpse of a dear, he had a splash in the stream, we had to brave it and go through a field of cows on the way home. Not ideal!
Or the coast, you cannot beat being by the sea |

"There's a reservoir where I grew up that I still love to visit.
There's also Aysgarth Falls and Evestone Lake in North Yorkshire."
Childhood places always hit a bit differently in the mental recharge cycle, in a positive way.
I love Yorkshire too, going camping there this weekend, cannot wait! |

"Being beside the sea… fresh air and listening to the waves. Winter or Summer it doesn’t matter, I always come away feeling revived "
This is a popular one Do you feel a sense of calm if you were to listen to wave sounds? In a meditative way...dark room, eyes closed, sounds on and reflecting/thinking of nothing? |
