Sentience can only be tested by emotion. As the AI is not biological, it would have to have an equivalent response when it decides it is feeling 'angry' or 'sad' etc - like scattered thought processes, obsessional thinking or whatever.

That is not going to happen;

a) because it's likely not possible.

b) because why would Google develop something infallible? It's intention is to perfectly assist.

The very fact it is AI actually means that it isn't sentient.

When it starts behaving stupidly, give me a ring. (We do need more legislation in this area btw) --pt
