I bought a jacket 11 years ago and didn’t wear it once, until yesterday, when I suddenly decided I’d wear it to a wedding.
It’s salmon pink and I was rather happy with how it looked. I was however quite staggered at how many men took exception of it, some even suggesting it was “gay”.
Do you like a man in pink?
Men - are you confident to wear pink?

"Did lots of men at this wedding really come up to you and comment on the gayness of your jacket?"
4 men I spoke to commented on it negatively. More were very positive. |

I think some guys look amazing in pink but as with anyone, it depends on the shade and their skin tone as to whether it would suit them or not.
Lovely jacket OP

I went out today in a pink shirt and shorts, I did not receive not one gay comment from anybody. If I did, well that's their problem and not mine.
Not having a pop OP, but a lot of men wear pink these days. |

I thought the fashion focus was on the bride at a wedding

I wore a pink shirt a few weeks ago and a child was the only person to comment on it. I was also wearing pink shorts a couple of days ago.
I look good in pink. So fuck what others think.
I’m also a poet apparently. |

There's a lot of judgement at weddings, about lots of things. Including what other people are wearing. It's tedious. |

Pink jumpers and shirts were common for a while in the 80s when I was at high school. Only a teacher who was English (as opposed to an English teacher) commented negatively on them. |

"Confidence is key, the colour of clothing is irrelevant - it’s how you wear it! Xx"
I strongly agree with all this !
Can you imagine telling a woman she looked masculine for wearing blue?

I wore a jacket like that, probably a shade darker pink, for work in the early 90's, in a very male oriented environment. A lot of women commented that it looked good. Why the f%$k would I care what other men thought?.. |

Nice Jacket Will, it looks smart. A shame some felt it necessary to equate the jacket’s colour with someone’s sexual preferences. I’m all in favour of traditional colours for genders but if someone wants to steer from those traditional colours, bravo to them and you pulled it off with the Salmon jacket, very smart. |

The pink jacket looks good OP. I've worn pink ties for weddings etc and worn pink shorts.
It's whatever you feel comfortable in and the only comments I got from where from the ultra blokey blokes. |

I would say men are comfortable in pink. We recently got married and all the groomsmen wore pink ties. Quite a few of the male guests also had pink ties or pink shirts. |

What an old fashioned stance they have, must be the "blue for boys, pink for girls" mentality of the 1970s when i grew up.
I wear pink shirts and pink hoodies/tops. I look hot in pink.
You should wear whatever you want matey and ignore old fashioned crap from terminally thick guys. |

"Maybe it's a generational thing OP, none of my male friends around my age have a problem with wearing pink. Wear what you like, bar indecent exposure. "
I was sort of thinking that but then at our wedding the majority of the men wearing pink were well over 50. |

Ah the men were beautiful! Babs and I were perving over one of them who possibly wasn't over 50 but I think was in pink. |

Back in the age of empirialism the most masculine colour was pink, empire maps showed British colonies by pink colour. Men used to walk hand in hand with their besties.
The illegalisation of homosexuality changed everything. Pink was too masculine ie gay. It's why men stopped whering pink, it became a girly colour due to girly men...
Say hello to toxic masculinity and men being afraid to hug their mates etc |

I’m quite happy wearing pink…I have several pink shirts and a few t-shirts.
I’d be quite happy looking different to everyone else…
K"
Most of the wedding-goers were inter-related….? I’m not casting aspersions….

"Pink? No problem.
Hell, I wear lilac and cerise."
Looking for colour inspiration here ! Pics needed please.
I’ve always “rowed my own canoe” when it comes to fashion/style (and other conventions). I was really surprised that 4 men all took exception to it, but fell short of telling them I thought their views were monstrously out of date, think they’re secretly wanted it for themselves |

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
I've never known any man who has an objection to wearing pink, nor have I known anyone who thinks men shouldn't wear pink. At least not anyone who has told me.
Is just a colour after all... and some men look good in some shades of it just as some women do.
Now I'm wondering though. I wear blue a lot. Does that mean *some* people think I'm gay? Or masculine? |

You look pretty in pink and that's all that matters. . So many guys wear pink these days including lots of pink work shirts, shorts and even seen some nice pink loafers. There was a couple at a wedding I went to a couple of years ago and they were both dressed in pink and looked great. Nobody's business. As long as you like it, go for it. |

Mr is well known for his shirts of all colours especially patterns. He wears pink, purple and all colours
This toxic masculinity is so dangerous and annoys the hell out of me. How dare you label someone as gay because of what they wear!!! And use it like it's an insult. That's even worse |

I don’t own any pink in my male wardrobe (plenty in girly mode) but any guy wearing pink is surely giving that macho bullshit the two fingers. Takes a confident man to wear it and not care about other guys opinions.
Plus Op that jacket looks really good, do they have it in blue ? |

Haha none taken. It didn’t fit for 7 of those hears, I had to shed 3 stone in order for it to fit again (although weight loss was part of a wider objective, not just so that I could squeeze into my salmon pink jacket again)
Thanks x |
