Fascinating piece of study. The Megalodon shark was a gigantic cousin of the great white shark which was much smaller and nimbler but they competed for the same food.

The great whites literally ate all the food before the bigger beasts could feast. The Great Whites made the Megalodon sharks extinct according to scientists examining ancient sharks teeth. What comes around goes around. ?

Somewhere In The Ether…

Apparently, they only became extinct approximately 3 million years ago, a mere blink of an eye in time.

Domestic cats have caused over 200 species to become extinct, and let's not start on how many mankind has caused

How many animals are facing extinction because of us? More likely we are bigger buggers than sharks surely.

"Apparently, they only became extinct approximately 3 million years ago, a mere blink of an eye in time."

You’re getting old when 3 million years feels like nothing.

A quick Google says 900 (ish) since the year 1500 although I dare say it's almost impossible to find a truly accurate figure.

In parts of Germany cats aren't allowed outdoors to save some species of birds.

I couldn't imagine trying to muzzle a cat and they'd still use their claws anyway.

3 million years is nothing on the geological timescale which extends 600 million years...To put that in context its 6 times around the world at the speed your finger nails grow!

A hell of a lot more sharks die at the hands of humans, than humans do at the fins of sharks!

Killer whales are the apex of the ocean though, not great whites

I can't see how a cat could eat a hedgehog.

Now badgers would eat a hedgehog

Unless it's a dog, mouse or rat.

Not sure what your point is Tom.
