Well here I lie in a hospital room with my leg all plastered up waiting to see if I need surgery in the morning.
The stupidest thing I ever did? Trying to stop my runaway car from hitting my house after the recovery man’s cable came off whilst he was winching it onto the truck.
Cue runaway car rolling back at a rate of knots towards my house and dumbass me instinctively stepping behind it to try and stop it leaving me with a broken tibia and lots of other owie bits.
So over to you, what’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done ? |

Don’t even compare, but I cut through a live eclectic cable once.
I parachuted into a field nowhere near the target field
I rolled an Audi Quattro UR Turbo
I flew into Gatwick airspace and got told off by the CAA
I got a bollocking from my headmaster for being ‘guilty by association’ |

"I find music a great distraction from pain, try listening to a new band, like Falling in Reverse?
Hope you have a speedy recovery "
Thanks, I’ll try in the morning. I don’t have any headphones with me and don’t want to disturb anyone |

You want like a list?
Ok fell down a steep drop while camping once right into a very fast moving river - bad enough but I tried to keep hold of the bloody tent!
Cycling down a steep hill lost control and again tried to keep hold of the bike this time!
Tried to stop ex slamming a door on me with my hand in the doorway - yea that didn’t work!
Separating frozen burgers with a sharp knife - nope!
Ran to stop daughter falling on ice when she was little only to go skiting over myself and skittling her over in the process though I did break her fall
In the moment we don’t always think wisely but instinctively.

I was training (solo)
I got disorientated and strayed into controlled airspace around Gatwick. The EasyJet passenger plane landing below me made me realise I’d gone off-course.
If wasn’t a great experience, but I can finally joke about it now |

"Thanks everyone, still would love to hear other idiotic things others have done to make me feel less of a prat "
Ouch, but I guess it’s human nature to try and stop something running.
I’ve sliced my own hand open with a paring knife, when I was trying to cut a stubborn vegetable for a horses feed, put the knife in… couldn’t get it back out again, so held the veg (it was a turnip) with the free hand and yanked the knife out… which it did and sliced the heel of my hand on the way….cue me going into shock, blood dripping everywhere, my jodhpurs, my arm, the fucking turnip (which ended up in the bin)… knife still in hand I knew I had to move but I couldn’t, I couldn’t stop watching the blood pouring out (luckily I’m not squeamish), after a while some riders came back & saw me, all I could say was “lm bleeding” …. They performed some first aid. I’ve done the same a few times but on fingers since but none that involved a turnip.
Another thing I did years earlier was when I worked at a riding school, one of the horses pushed its door open which wasn’t shut properly and took off….. I shut the stable door after it had bolted
Hope your recovery is swift. How much damage did your car do? |

Thinking at 43 it would be a good idea to race the U16 rugby team I coach. Snapped my Achilles and tore my hamstring. - I went down like I’d been shot by a sniper!
Fell out of numerous trees as an adult.
Argued myself into a speeding ticket, after getting a ‘talking’ I thought I knew best.
Tried ice skating and broke my nose falling flat onto my face. |

As a youth I tied my skateboard to the back of my mates bike. Only realising that his brakes won't stop me also while heading towards an A road. Rolled off the board in the nick of time. Destroying my brand new tracksuit and most of my skin in the process.
Getting involved in a stupid game of spinning a revolving door while ppl run through it. Ended in a horrendous injury for my mate. P.S. YouTube Pacific Pearl revolving door and you can see this for yourself |
