"When you've hit a PB in any of the exercises you've done "
To add, that could be an increase in reps or weight but something to show you've progressed since last time |

I try to do that every session too. Even if it’s just one extra rep, or one set heavier than the others. |

Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS), walking of the gym with a spring in my step (those endorphins), the insane pump and seeing vascularity all over my body are all pretty good indicators for me |

When I am training I like to do time under tension and use medium weights, for example when I do the bent over row for the back. I like to squeeze and hold the weight there for a second or 2 to really feel it working. I see far to many people just going through the motion. |

Guilty! I do this sometimes. It's tough though because I'm trying to lift for strength and to build muscle so it feels like I need to lift slightly heavier otherwise I couldn't progress |

I sometimes do that too, but mostly I train with medium heavy weights. I like to train for the pump, from the 12 to 15 rep range |

I don't judge individual workouts, progress over time is the best way to judge IMO.
I've always stood by the 80% of your workouts will be nothing special, work done all numbers hit.
10% will be crap, everything feels heavy and just doesn't move well.
10% will be amazing where everything feels like it's an empty bar.
If you get too caught up in the now and reflect on the rubbish or average it can be a bit disheartening even when over the long term you are progressing. |

"The one that I turned up to at the moment! Not worked out in months, considering hitting the home gym today, don’t have a reason not to but can feel myself holding back " That is good and have a good workout. I also train at home with my home gym as you save alot of time by doing so too |

I'm not sure to be honest. When I was doing one on one personal training sessions I would be dead by the end in a way I could never replicate when going to the gym by myself (I guess I don't push myself hard enough), and I'd also have sore muscles for the next day or two.
Now I'm on a new program I definitely feel that I'm pushing myself a lot during sessions, but more from an endurance aspect than strength, as there's a lot more cardio mixed in where before I was mainly doing weights. I don't really get DOMS either, which is a weird thing to complain about but the ache used to be so satisfying.
So yeah anyway, my workout is over when I've finished the workout that has been assigned to me that day *shrug* |

Consistency is key. I found this “the without isn’t over until I’m dead” mentality just makes me miss days from being to drained
I do my own programming with basic strength progression goals.
I have my main lifts for the day. When I hit them I’m done. If I’m feeling good I’ll do more. If I’m not I’ll go home.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and at the end, it’s only with yourself |

After a work out particularly a run use a foam roller and stretch!! I used to fell run and currently trying to get rid of the knots in my quads cause they alter my gait and stress my back. It’s a battle but one I am winning. Agree it’s a marathon and it’s gets harder!! |

When Ive pushed myself so hard in a drop set that I can even finish on the pathetically light weights.
Of course it's when I'm failing on 4kg curls that the yoga class finishes....
(Not that anyone pays attention, other than the other guys!) |

Progressive resistance was a game changer for me a few years ago, every session had a single goal to lift either a bit heavier or 1-2 more reps on the same weight than the previous week. Once you crack that the eating and resting just happens naturally as your body needs it |

When my body feels worked out, I've perhaps got new PBs, I feel pumped, energised and feel a great post workout high. Plus, there have been some great people around me, to enjoy their workouts too |

Leg day - can't walk down the stairs at the gym without feeling you're going to fall
Chest day - when youre putting your t-shirt on again and you can feel the pecs stiffening
Back day - when your shoulders are back and chest is sticking out because your back muscles are still taught |

When I feel energised and fatigued at same time. Certainly not to the point of failure or where I don't know which end I'm going to spew out of
Although had nearly 3 months doing very little on slowly getting back into it |
