I’ve realised recently that I’m becoming/ I’ve become more cynical in my assumptions and assessments of others interests and motives. Part of that I’m taking as a natural reaction and will pass over time, however, I’m also wondering if cynicism is a result of prolonged fab exposure.

My questions, dear fabbers, are; do you feel that you’re cynical? What’s caused this? Is it something that you dislike and want to change? Is fab making you more cynical?

Thoughts…

I wouldn't say I'm cynical of Fab just yet as I would like to think there are mostly positive experiences to be had. Although maybe that's naivety

I think experience counts for a lot of cynicism where where they have seen time-wasters, fantasists and the like where even genuine people may come across as sketchy for doing something they used to think would be innocent.

I think cynicism is very unattractive, people fester on things that annoy then, their faces go all ugly, begin to look and sound like old witches and become vile, so no !

Stay light and let the tensions out regularly

Yes. I've had several negative experiences here that affected me and so many gross messages that I'm now a lot more cynical about men. Yes I can still see positives and yes I can still appreciate the good guys.

I might be able to dial back the cynicism but atm it protects me so it's staying put.

I try and hold the line of being realistic rather than cynical.

I have become more cynical on here. Not so much irl.

Usually as a result of people saying one thing and doing the complete opposite.

It's easy to ignore if it doesn't affect me directly but not so easy when they try to involve me in the drama and don't want to listen to reason.

That then makes me question their motives and those who display similar traits.

Yes I'm cynical. What has caused this is observation, life and experience. However my cynicism is tempered by compassion. I can recognise where either is required

I can be cynical, I don't blame fab for it though more just life in general, people and my age. I'm just grumpy and can't be arsed, the older I get

Honestly I find that a lot of people are cynical and often jump to thinking the worst of others. I notice this particularly in the workplace. People are very quick to badmouth someone for seemingly not doing something or doing something differently without looking if there is a reason and many times I feel people have been unfairly criticised because of others assumptions and complete lack of any benefit of the doubt. Of course you can go too far the other way if you try to always see the best in people as sometimes you do need to accept that sometimes people are twats but I do think there often needs to be more middle ground.

I think it's prudent to have a healthy degree of cynicism on places such as this
