Thats the entire point of the ITER project. If they can make it work for a fraction of a second they'll know for sure it can be done.
At which point they'll start working on making it happen.

A science teacher I worked with used to make GCSE science very interesting. I learned a lot-which was useful as I didn't do it at school and needed to understand it all |

Science is very sexy. I studied chemistry at collage and there was always something stimulating about lab work. The girls bending over the pippets, lab costs straining over boobs and butts.

I'm a phyicist by background (semiconductors) with a hobby of astronomy. I now do a lot of science communication and love talking about astronomy to people. I always relax more when talking about it.
So yes science is sexy, especially if talking to somene who can communicate their passion in the subject well.
Oh to the earlier poster about the Webb telescope, the first fully focussed images were released at the beginningnof the week, and they are stunning, especially from MIRI instrument which was designed and built here in the UK |
