one of the best seats i had on a flight- right next to the emergency exit and i had a rather lovely stewardess in front of me for take off, not to mention oodles of legroom and the galley was just off to the side, so i could smile as one of them walked past and very quickly get a drink or snack brought to me...15 hours seemed ot go by effortlessly |

I get little choice. Limited seat choice if you need assistance on/off the plane. Basically we get shoved at the back, in a window seat. I'm surprised that the safety leaflet doesn't include an instruction to die quietly in the event of an emergency, cos I'm unlikely to be making it off in one piece. |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
In front of the engines, not behind.
I'm sure that doesn't make much difference, but it's worth a try.
Basically, every seat is a nightmare in some way, planes are a means of getting to a holiday, they're not part of the "holiday experience". |

"In front of the engines, not behind."
That'll be quieter as engine noise worse at the back.

If you look at who survive plane crashes they all tend to be right at the back. Basically if a plane hits the ground, the back part breaks off while the rest of the front, including the fuel tanks carry on crashing. |

On the small planes that I mainly travel on, I like to have a window seat on the very back row...mainly because the door is at the back and I can get off first and not have to wait for people dawdling on the steps and walking at toddler pace across to the building. An added bonus is there's nobody nobody behind me to keep knocking the back of my seat |

Yes, if it doesn't burn or sink, I might be okay. I'll fry in my seat if it catches fire though! Oh well. I'm not a nervous traveller. Mr KC is firmly instructed to get our daughter out and to leave me behind, not to be stupid. |

Oxygen gets you high. In a catastrophic emergency, you're taking giant panicked breaths. Suddenly you become euphoric, docile. You accept your fate. It's all right here. Emergency water landing, 600 miles an hour. Blank faces, calm as Hindu cows |

I don't really mind, if we're going down I doubt it makes that much difference. Although I don't really like being around the middle as it's rubbish if you want a pee and are trapped between the snack carts coming from either end. So I guess front or back, near-ish to the loos is my preference |

"A friend said oh no I never sit over the wings . "
Sitting in the middle of the plane (i.e. where the wings are) is actually the best place to sit. The middle of the plane is where the centre of gravity is; it moves less than the rest of the plane. The ends of the plane (cockpit and tail) move the most as they are the farthest from the centre of gravity.
If you want to see this effect just hold a pen or pencil in the middle. The plane moves relative to the wings so no matter which way it is moving it always pivots around the middle.
Anyway...that is unless you are scared of seeing large bits of aluminium moving about which is where the "wings" fear probably comes from.
Anyway...that concludes today's science lesson |

I once had the emergency exit seat, , only to be rammed against the rather large inflatable slide housing attached to the inside of the door. I had less room than a regular seat. Becareful what you wish for.
Generally I like the front of the plane. |
