I am currently looking at air fryers because my kids turn the damned oven on 12 times a day.

So what kitchen gadget or other gadget do you rate? (Not your phone)

Can't beat a good can opener.

If it won't open one of those flat fray bentos pie tins....chuck it in the bin.

But can it (pun intended) open a fray bentos pie tin?

Many have tried. Few have succeeded.

I'm contemplating the Instant Pot with the air fryer included

My most recent love is my Calmer Pros. They take the edge off high pitched noises and don't interfere with the sounds I'm trying to listen to. It's like anxiety medication without the dependency problems

This. I have a set of Japanese high carbon steel ones. (Some of which were gifts)

Makes food prep an actual joy.

I also use proper stones and strops for them. I take them to the same level as my cutthroat razor.

Many people don't realise how sharp a knife can be and what a difference it makes.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

I bought a cheap air fryer from Morrisons a few weeks ago, as I didn't want to spend a fortune on yet another gadget to use once then shove in the back of a cupboard.

It's great. I've even cooked steak in it, as well as chips and roasties.

I don't use it every day, but it's been a useful addition to my kitchen.

I have an In My Mug subscription from a company called Has Bean. You get a different coffee every week.

I think other similar subscription models exist - this is one of the oldest. It favours light to medium roast.

It’s lighter, I wouldn’t say it’s portable necessarily but by comparison to a Magimix food processor which I also have it’s a lot lighter and I would say practical. The Braun is very modular with a separate motor unit, which is interchangeable between kitchen accessories. Used it to make a meal on Friday night which turned out beautiful so I definitely do recommend it.

Wouldn’t be without my slow cooker, foreman griddle and rotisserie air fryer. My oven hasn’t been on for a year.

I love my small weighing scales though, can place a bowl on them, bring it back to zero, add the necessary weight of an ingredient then zero it again before adding the next ingredient. No extra tools or bowls needed so less washing up.

The smell of coffee is lovely. Pity about the taste.

You've just not had good coffee

I challenge you to prove me wrong some day "

I'll pack my coffee brewing kit and head your way now

Definitely my rice cooker - also works well as a steamer.

Wireless in-ear headphones - do my Bluetooth hearing aids count? Almost invisible and really confuse people when I take calls on them...

And finally my Philips hue lamps. With the go to sleep automation that dims and turns off after a set period

"A corn peeler, an egg cuber, a shrimp devainer and a chork

You get the Lakeland Limited catalog, don't you?

You caught me out. I also collect all these free ones in the papers. You should see my collection of sofa arm covers, pillow trays and arm, knee and wrist support gear. Not to mention the foot spa, the phone with the large numbers and loud ringing bell and the plastic strip door curtain to keep the flies out

I grew up in Australia and plastic door strip curtains are manna to me

Yass (the last McDonald's before you get to Canberra )"

After The Big Merino in Goulbourn. . . .(and SuperMax)

To be fair, it could have been somewhat because the fryer was new and I was getting that ‘new’ taste in much the same way that new non stick frying pans sometimes seem to taint the food a bit until they are used a few times.

I should really give it another go

I think a great deal of my problem is that I’m so used to fried and baked foods that anything resembling a more healthy option sends my taste buds into immediate consternation and shock
