"Feel like heading out to find a rope swing and fuck around on it for a few hours.
What would you really want to revisit from your formative years?"
Not having to work for a living and worry about paying bills.
Just for a day........

"Get on my BMX and make sure I'm home by the time the street lamps went on
I loved this when I was a kid. We made ramps on the building site around the estate. So much fun"
I remember playing on building sites, great fun! I smashed my head on a scaffolding pole as I ride into it on my bike |

I've got kids around that age where they like to go to playground, bmx, trampolining, ninja warrior etc. So I tend to take part. I'm that adult that is perpetually the big kid.
It keeps me young in body & mind. Nothing about the stereotypical Dad/middle aged man appeals to me. The idea of being the slow, retiring, reserved, past his best, lost his fire old man just seems unappealing.
As a general statement to all. As I get older, I look at those in their 50s, 60s and 70s for an idea of what path I'd like to take over the next 30-40 years. I see some 70 year olds that are still full of life with healthy and vibrant sex lives and interesting stories to tell. Then I see those who even by the time they hit their 40s look miserable like they're just plodding along waiting for death.
I know much is out of people's control, depends ultimately on your state of mind. However for me, I intend to live as youthful a life as I can. So reliving childhood activities and carrying on like a 20-something year old with teenage children is part of my life strategy to optimise for pleasurable & sustainable outcomes for my soul. |
