No it’s not like sending a friends request but most don’t check them

I know I don’t the way I see it is if they can’t pluck up and just send a good first message they aren’t for me

Not here to play footcy underneath the table

You know the they winked I winked send a message game

Just send the message in the first place

Creepy to wink but not be messaging.

A wink is a hi to someone you already chat too

A random wink is just weird

A random friend request is a downright nooooooo

The winks button is used in so many different ways.

We will wink people to show there’s interest and if they wink back, we’ll send a message.

It’s just to show there’s interest. Same for someone winking us.

We don’t really get people who wink us, we wink back and then nothing…that feels like there’s no point at all

More often we’ll send a message first but sometimes when busy a cheeky wink is a good starter…

I don’t mind a “wink” and also send them. If someone winks and they wink back then for me that’s when I send a message.

I use it as a way to look at someone’s profile I may have missed otherwise. I feel it also saves people typing messages that just get deleted.

Friend requests a definite no without talking and asking

This is what I do as well. I send a wink and if the other person winks back, I'll message them

Same, it’s a very easy way to gauge interest for us

i use a winknto show interest in someonenthat maybe doesnt have a lot ofninfo on their profile, they can read mine qnd if they wink or message, all good.

i also use it for someone i may have messaged before, especially if the message went unread, the issue i have is its hard to tell if a person isnt interested, or if tbey have mass deleted, as happens so often.

I instantly delete them. Then I block and report the account. Then I delete my own account. Then I become a nun and live in a monastery for the rest of my life. It’s a real pain….

Fuckin’ winkers. Damn them to eternal hell. Anyone that dares to wink me will swiftly feel my wrath. I shall start a forum thread to vent my outrage at such despicable behaviour. How dare anybody wish to show their interest in such a simple way.

Winks are fine and harmless. It’s like an initial smile at someone you fancy in a pub. Random friend requests I totally ignore

You'd be a busy nun in a monastery with all those monks

I'm OK having winks, it's a lot less effort, testing the water, than a finely crafted message.

I like a wink. If I like the look, I'll wink back and go from there.

Can see it might be a bit more annoying if you're a woman or couple with literally thousands to sift through...

Think people get their knickers in a twist for no reason over winks, it's a form of contact, expressing interest. There's so much you can't even tell from messaging so what's the difference how contact is first made? It's a start.

I never even look at winks, I forget they are even there.

Friend requests from people who I've never spoken to just get no response I don't even bother to delete them.

They’re not cringe and we’re not offended by them but you won’t get a response from us with a wink. If you like the look of someone it’s always best to send a message.

I am happy to message someone who winks at me, but I rarely wink at them since I know my winks will get lost in the masses that they undoubtedly recieved

Better a wink than just 'Hi' or an unwanted Friend Request

Completely harmless imho

I don't mind them being used or me using them, I find the threads about them are much more useful though. The way some people over react and have ludicrous notions of laziness etc are clearly ones to avoid spending any time on. It's a simple wink ffs.
