"Yes it is. I have too many painful memories about third person writing.
Getting students to write methods for science practical work
Surely that is the beauty of copy and paste!"
Don't encourage them |

They don't need to be encouraged. I have had my own work submitted, Yiu couldn't make it up. |

We've seen all sorts. My favourite are essay mills written by PhD students who have forgotten what A level standard is.
Me: "Can you please explain the following sentence to me....?"
Student: Baffled face
Me: Awards zero |

I live it when Turnitin melts, but the student is adamant it's their work as they typed every word of it. Yes they did as they had 2 windows open, website and Word and therefore they didn't copy and paste. |

Me: "Yes, it's still plagiarism if you copy/paste an entire paragraph and shove a badly formatted citation at the end" |

Back in the day it was the polite way of talking and demonstrated the difference between the classes. The "posh" people did not (in speech' put themselves forward, and did not use "I". However, it has been so parodied and is now anachronistic, unless "one is" royalty.?? |

Next you're going to tell me that synonyms aren't ground breaking originality either.
(After you will command that similar words aren't dirt destroying...) |

That must be the famous Glasgow patter I have heard about.
We don't have such common language down here in Ayrshire. |
