Your funeral song

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

What song do you want people to hear at your funeral?

Have you even thought about it?

I was trying to make my mind up today and may make a recording that can be played something along the lines of:

“Can someone open the door please I’m getting claustrophobic in here.”

“And I hope the fuel bill isn’t too high to burn my old bones, although it is nippy in here. Sort it out man.”

You know just some recording that will make people smile etc.

What about you?

Megadeth's "Mary Jane" as the chorus goes...

As you are now so once was I

As I am now so you must be

Prepare my friends to follow me"

"What song do you want people to hear at your funeral?

Have you even thought about it?

I was trying to make my mind up today and may make a recording that can be played something along the lines of:

I’m a former soldier from a Scottish Highland regiment. It is well documented that my funeral song for going out to will be, Andy Stewart singing “A Scottish Soldier”

If you YouTube it and listen to the lyrics you will see why it is appropriate and significant.

“Can someone open the door please I’m getting claustrophobic in here.”

“And I hope the fuel bill isn’t too high to burn my old bones, although it is nippy in here. Sort it out man.”

An insanely good liquid drum and bass track that still brings a tear to my eye after all these years, although it does have special meaning to me that it wouldn’t have to others.

Plus I love the thought of an insane amen break dnb track being played in the house of god!

Have thought about this quite a lot. I have decided that all songs at my funeral will actually mean something, they will spell out exactly how i have lived my life, it will be a confession to all via music, they may work out what it all means but only if they listen to the words, a cryptic goodbye to all.

Were I to be having a conventional funeral my choice would be "Fanfare for the Common Man" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

I am however having an unattended cremation.

"What song do you want people to hear at your funeral?

Have you even thought about it?

I was trying to make my mind up today and may make a recording that can be played something along the lines of:

“Can someone open the door please I’m getting claustrophobic in here.”

“And I hope the fuel bill isn’t too high to burn my old bones, although it is nippy in here. Sort it out man.”

You know just some recording that will make people smile etc.

What about you?"

Don't throw it all away

Every breath I take

I am torn on this one. I made a pact with some friends many moons ago that we'd all have the birdie song, including the actions.

I am not sure it's appropriate, but a pact is a pact.

Mine is already sorted and documented in my funeral arrangements:

Carried in to This Charming Man.

Halfway through: There is a light that never goes out.

And finally: Heaven knows I'm miserable now.
