What topics can you guys talk about, for 30 min, with absolutely no prep?
What are you really passionate about?
These are my 3 topics:
- Music (particularly playing the piano . But also music In general!!)
- Food (don’t even …I LOVE FOOD… I don’t even know how I’m not morbidly obese)
- Sex (particularly about men/dick )
In all fairness I have more topics I can go on and on and on about x what can I say, it’s hard to shut me up

Loads but as a teacher/lecturer, I regularly speak for 30min+ about all aspects of biology and study skills stuff.
Also could do it on the history of Spain, European history since 1066, anything on WW1 or WW2. |

Interesting question - and thanks for giving us your own answer OP
I can easily talk for 30 minutes about:
Music - I have been in a _hoir, a band and been a party DJ. Still keen on finding new music and fairly eclectic in my tastes.
Rugby - I have a season ticket at Bristol, I’d like to think I can chat about rugby without being a bore, certainly don’t think I’m an expert, just a fan that loves the game.
All things digital - it is what I research in my day job. I worry I may be a bore but I genuinely find technology fascinating.
One of the things I missed most during the pandemic was the chance to chat with friends and with new people who are just enthusiastic about things. It’s sort of life affirming… |

I can easily throw sexual innuendos back and forth for half an hour.
Otherwise breastfeeding - a favourite topic of mine. Bedsharing and especially the difference between that and cosleeping. Hormones (I know, very boring but incredibly interesting too).
That has probably put anyone off wanting to meet me |

Race - mainly discrimination and how we all don’t have the same 24 hours
Previous dating stories - bloody hilarious
Generational trauma - not so hilarious

"Have I got to talk non stop or is it a back and forth conversation?
I doubt I could talk about anything except my life story for thirty minutes without repetition. "
I mean, back and forth conversation would be acceptable. But you would have to be the one doing majority of the talking x |

Talking of the history of Spain... I didn't know until last week its national anthem has no words. |

Love when people are generally enthusiastic about things, so refreshing. I think nowadays, people are just so focused on social media and losing themselves on them, that we are kinda forgetting how to talk properly about what we are really passionate about!
Anyway, you seem to be quite an eloquent young chap. I really enjoyed your answer! |

I guess I can talk about anything with the right person. Sex chat rarely lasts 30 minutes as you're most likely sexting by 15 haha |

Life philosophy and what it is to be human.
History (general, or focused in certain areas).
Politics.
Trains.
Or whatever my current fascination at the time is that I've been information feasting on over the last week.
To be fair I'm a bit of a chatterbox. If you find it gets too much shoving a soft pair of lips on mine or a warm pair of breasts in my face normally works to stop me.

Pumpkin spice - the millennial zeitgeist?
Race, gender and class - a study on the cultural impact of Made in Chelsea and its representation of societal issues in the early 2010s to 2021.
Horror's evolution - the correlation of the popularity of particular horror tropes and global events.

I could easily give a 3 hour lecture and discussion on a range of Fly-Fishing related topics or on Adventure Travel in Africa Or on cooking and cuisine.
I used to deliver fly-fishing lessons and seminars, and host tours all over Africa and the Southern Indian Ocean Islands.
Aside from (and possibly including) that, I'm fairly boring.. |

I have very narrow but deep knowledge, so 30 minutes wouldn't be an issue provided I can choose the topic!
I'd go for:
Organised crime and nut theft
Gluten contamination in coconut sugar
Military applications of point of care testing |

Did you ever see the Mark Gatiss History of Horror series? Didn't link tropes to global events but it was a great series on horror movie development! |

100% Agree When I'm confronted with Racisim it devolves into an epic rant. (I figured out long ago that racists can't deal with facts or logic) You would be stuck for days listening to my ravings about geopolitical, economic and social history. The rise of nationalisim, White nationalism, identity politics, and social psychology!
You would end up like one of the passengers in the movie Airplane- Committing suicide to try and get away from Ted |

Mountain biking/road cycling. Big hobby of mine
Engineering as I love a technical conversation
Hate talking about politics, religion, race and anything related. This just causes clashes of opinion and people falling out when they cling to their opinion... Although I have spoken to a handful of people about these issues that haven't ended that way. I would still stray away from it.
I only tend to have intelligent conversation. I struggle to talk about simple stuff like everyday things. I have to be mentally stimulated with technical conversation. Simple subjects really do bore me. I can banter but it has to be with the right person
Really you could just call me a massive geek. You will rarely catch me talking about celebrities or simple gossip like people do. Not putting myself on a pedestal... I tend to get on better with people better that are near my intelligence or above. I can banter with everyone but it does get annoying when I have to explain jokes or things when they go over people's head. |

Thanks for taking the time to reply! I agree about social media, though I suspect I am just as bad… lovely to properly connect with people, especially when they think differently but there’s space to discuss things rather than just shut down conversation, which happens all too much on social media sadly… |

They couldn't agree on what it should be after Franco (there were some highly nationalistic bits) so they stuck with no words. The "original" words could be sung by those who wish to though |

Yes! I absolutely loved it so much - it was fascinating and his real love for the genre came through so beautifully. It was on Iplayer last October and I watched it a few times - properly nerded out about it. If you know of any more similar shows, bar Eli Roth's Tarantino's show, let me know! |

"I'll add, I could talk for 30mins on pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction in women. "
So fucking common. We advertise Tena Lady in this country like it’s the most normal thing for women to have incontinence, when it shouldn’t be treated that way. It annoys me that in France, for example, women are given much better ‘aftercare’ for this following childbirth.
Anyway, good on you as it’s a very worthy topic of discussion |

Bedsharing is where the baby/child is on the same sleep surface as you, ie your mattress. Cosleeping is where the baby/child is in the same room as you or in a next to me style crib, but on a separate sleep surface/mattress. |

Music. Making it, listening to it and more. Find it really interesting to find what surprises people that aren't into the production side of music. There's a lot of oddities that people don't expect.
Horror movies. I can go for hours here lol. The way so many stars start out in budget slasher movies and end up in blockbusters. The way certain themes come about and change and how that relates outward. How certain visual effects are achieved (for example, two of the kills involved a rotating room, one of them used so much fake blood that the room started spinning uncontrollably with the cameraman still attached, yikes. I'm off already look)
Theme parks, the idea that these places that are "once in a lifetime" visits for people are open 365 days and the infrastructure behind that. The creativity that goes into them and how they go about tricking you to keep you to keep you immersed |

Go ahead. I love boats. If I could I would have one. Possibly even live in one. And I could pick and cook fish too at the same time, could have that everyday. Finally would keep it in a marina somewhere hot and be in my birthday suit all day long. |
