Android. I dont like walled gardens or the shit Apple pull with right to repair, stuff like stopping replacement screens or batteries by causing a software lock and stopping them from working. I would reccommend Louis Rossmann on youtube to see what sort of stuff they pull.
Im still rocking my Samgsung s8+ from like 5 years ago |

Android for just phones. Apple if your buying a whole heap of their well overpriced goods to link together (and repeatedly buying every time they decide that the newer version is 4.2% faster so you need this one and the old one can no longer be secure) |

Apple- two types of people in this World, those who know the majesty of IOS and that Android lot.
…admittedly, some people don’t own mobile phones …but they’re a weird lot
And those from Yorkshire who are all on PAYG phones |

Who is rendering in Blender on their phone though. Like 2 people in the world?
99% of people use there phones to watch youtube, watsapp, take some pics and a bit of social media. In reality most people buy an apple over an Android, just to say they own an Apple. They dont know what an ARM chip is what even core count means or what RAM/VRAM is |

Everyone on fab is be it editing pic and videos to post
Basically useing the exact same rendering to re reader a edit video
But yes your 100% right on that one but still can’t justify 16gb off ram 8 core cpus and 10 core gpus in phones scoreing 40fps fire strike Geting done to 6 core 6gb ram 5 core gpu iPhone at 68fps fire strike
Not a knock on the hardware
Android are badly coded yes it can be fixed but for the normal user that’s way behond them |

Apple for me.
I did try android but we didn’t get on too well so got our relationship annulled pretty quickly.
Android generally costs less though so I think it’s probably better value for money if I’m honest. |

Agree with this. Always repaired my phones when required, but won’t be upgrading to the latest for this very reason. |

Android...
Apple is such a conspiracy to rip you off forever. Apple this apple that and if you leave us you can't take your stuff with you.
Who needs that kinda control over their lives? Who wants alexa listening in 24/7? Worse than China! |

Windows v Mac (or Linux)
Android v Apple
Marvel v DC
Let’s not worry about defining ourselves by our consumption. All the above are fine. Pick the one that suits you, or pick them all, or none.

Apple for me.
I have android devices for work, a phone and a tablet, and I don’t really get on with either of them. Getting them to interact is frustrating.
At home three iPhones, three iPads and a Mac, all of which simply work seamlessly together. |

Android for me.
Have had both in the past & cannot stand iphones & all the bollocks that goes with how they stitch you up. I want freedom from ties & being skinned for my own info.
You are either one or the other, there must be some sort of human condition or scientific case for why this happens I guess. |

Phone : Apple
PC: Windows
I'm strange in that I like a closed, curated system on a phone. Tried the Androids and I felt like I was swimming in a big sea with no safety net. Apple phones have just worked out the box.
But for computers ? Can't stand Mac Os. Too restrictive and locked down. I feel always in control in Windows and can do what I want (or make it do what I want). |

Android.. Decent battery life and if I want to double my memory I get to keep all of my organs... My iPhone was plugged into the wall so much it thought it was a land-line |

Android. I have an Apple workphone, and it feels like it was designed for children.
Apple are way too expensive too. I've got a £200 android which I've used for 3 years and it still works fine.
The cult worship of Apple also annoys me. |

Android here
But can i ask as there seem to be some techy types replying
When was the last time they sold a "new" phone that was actually new not just an uprated camera.
I mean that normal dumb arses like me can see is really different, my S9 still seems to cope with everything fine. Takes great pics etc etc, when i looked into the S8 and S9 the only difference i could see was better speakers !!!
Phones seem to be less and less about what you can do with them and more and more about the camera or is that just the advertising and i'm not looking deep enough ?? |

This is for a few reasons.
Firstly, no ‘new’ phone is ever more than an evolution of the previous, and generally speaking the internal specifications and architecture are things that manufacturers don’t really mention because no one actually cares (or understands). It’s not like the PC works where the speed of the CPU in MHz is part of its selling points.
Most internal parts will have received incremental updates and improvements over the previous one, but it’s really hard to actually use that as a selling point. Apple occasionally use “50% faster x y or z” on their store pages but never in tv or print ads.
Some phones are phenomenally capable, and benchmark faster than laptops, but how they are presented to the public is the antithesis of how PC have traditionally been marketed.
The one visual thing they can demonstrate in a sellable way is changes to the camera, and this is also for the reason that cameras are still an area that is seeing larger year on year improvements because they are still (in the grand scheme of things) an immature set of features that are in their technological infancy. Plus, you can make funky ads showing ridiculous zoom capabilities, or changing focus on the fly while recording video etc. So it’s a feature that Joe Public understands: your videos will be smoother, better looking and you can zoom in like you used to do on your 35mm camera 15 years ago is more digestible to us than we decreased the silicon dye size to 8 nano metres whilst doubling the number of transistors to 170million resulting in 32% faster memory access…
On a side note, with Apple you can put the phone hardware and software as interchangeable in the context of this thread, but people saying Android had better battery or more RAM or any of the other things is a bit silly as there is no suck thing as an Android phone unless you have a Google Pixel. The centra premise of the thread is a bit flawed, it’s a bit like saying what’s better, a Ford or a Deisel Engine, the two are not the same entity unless you are only talking about the operating system |
