From some of the posts in here it would seem having money, earning money, employing people and paying them or spending money is a dreadful sin. Making a profit... Bastards... Having nice stuff... Selfish gits, employing anyone...
And yet... Is anyone expected to work for free? Not geet paid for services or products..? |

If you listen to a song like Money, which is almost 50 years old now, you realize that not much has changed.
It's destined to be used, and sometimes abused, sometimes derided, but rarely divided (evenly).

I don't think there's anything wrong with profit per say.
But perhaps the world would be a better place if morality was taught as a clear science in conjunction with how a a person would conduct business interests.
-This is an idea Ive heard economist Geoffery Sachs mention & I think its an interesting concept. |

When does money become too much money?
If you ask Jeff Bezos how he would spend his several hundred billion dollars, detailing that spend, day by day, could he really do it?
If he couldn't, then hasn't he lost sight of the value he holds?

End of the day, if you’ve earn’t a decent packet through smart investment choices or run your own business & paid the relevant taxes then what you have isn’t any of my concern.
What bugs me is the sense of entitlement some people have towards those who’ve put the hours in (excluding hereditary) and the open hostility. |

I'd like to start a cooperative business at some point, with like minded people.
You could all put in a share of the capitol, instead of the usual just one, or few people putting up the risk & building the business.
-And then apply the same principles.
The usual argument/principle is "I started/built the business, took all the risk, so I can pay the employees what i want & pay myself what I want etc".
-Instead you could share the risk, share the building of the business & therefore share the profits equally. (The employer & employees are the same people & everyone's a partner).
There's a company called the alvardo street bakery that's run like this. All the workers own it and it was set up to have a horizontal structure. So they all earn 70k upwards per year. |

Money is a useful tool, can make many things, here’s the but though, it can make people happy, well dressed, well housed, blah blah, been there had it lost it, now doing it again, use the money tool to make good things happen, won’t get a better feeling. |

I don't begrudge anyone having money.
What I don't like is greed and those who can afford to pay staff well but don't. I also dislike those who think they are better because of their wealth, status, education etc.
I read somewhere that the more money you have, the lower proportion of it goes to good causes. In other words, percentage wise, the poorest people are the most generous. |

Not having a go just pointing something out, landlords do not sell they rent, and the more buy to rent/let landlords in an area or street the amount of potential houses for sale on the market is reduced and increases house prices in that area or street. |

Employing people is an amazing thing to be able to do for someone and for someone to begrudge that sounds strange to me ???

in my job ive worked for people who have alot of money, hay motor racing aint cheap, most have made thier own, and are usually nice people and a pleasure to work for.
however some inherited money, they tend to be the pricks.
so no if someone earns lot, fair play, im just pissed i didnt think of thier ideas first, it always amazes me when you chat to these people, the bizzare ways some have made money, one guy i know wrote the code thats used in every playstation game, hes worth billions, for example, its sometimes a product of something compleatly different, like the guy i mentioned, he was just a geek playing computer games, next thing he has so much money he doesnt know what to do with it. what im trying to say is that its made purley by acident |

I earn a decent salary now and I'm grateful for the security my job gives me, especially being on my own and knowing what it's like to have nothing.
It makes me sad that there are some really hard jobs that are paid much less and I just don’t think that's fair at all.
Wealth is not simply down to how hard you work and many people have way more than they ever need while others struggle every day. |

Having the right support structure around you (& timing to an extent- especially if it's tech) certainly helps.
Bill Gates' father was a patent attorney.
Jeff Bezos' grandfather gave him 300,000 in the early, 90s to start amazon.
Donald trump started off with a million dollars given to him by his father in the early 70s to build his empire.
