Yea of course. In engineering a pin is a generic word to describe a type of fastener. A pin can be a piece of steel two feet long a weighing half a tonne. If you didn’t hear that drop onto a ships deck you must be deaf.

I’ve heard many a pin drop, stage pins, sewing pins, locking pins, they all make a noise just depends on the environment

Yes, back in the 80's was experimenting with music a bit and got to try out some microphones and hooking them up to an amp got to see how sensitive they were, and that was one item we tried.
