Name a movie or movie franchise that's beloved by many but you hate (for whatever reason)

I'll start first- Lord of the Rings

Why, one we never got to see Sauron come back, the stakes never felt quite high tbh, not enough good people died and the ending kept dragging on and on (I couldn't wait to get out of the cinema)

Manchester (he/him)

I don’t think that disliking Lord of the Rings or Star Wars (as many will say) qualifies as unpopular!

The Deer Hunter, it always gets touted as one of the best ever Vietnam war movies, but I found it boring.

I've very much gone off the Marvel films as well.

Black Panther.

Altho, a big part of me (cynically) thinks a lot of people "liked" it only out of fear of coming across as racist if they didn't.

Anyway, they're all crap but the hubbub got me interested..

All this Marvel shit and constant remakes of remakes

Gender/Race/Sexualality swaps of known characters to apppease people on twitter instead of making new and interesting ones

Somewhere In The Ether…

Yet another vote for The Fast And The Furious series in addition to Transformers and most films in fact, that rely on CGI effects to ‘wow’ the intended audience.

"Harry Potter"

I’ve never fully watched any one of these films, don’t see what the fuss is about.

As Nanna says…..

“What a load of old shit”

The Lotr movies were critical acclaimed with the last movie winning an academy award for every category lol. Star Wars though has been hurt a bit by the prequels and the catastrophe that happned under JJ Abrahams and Rian Johnson. ( I'm a Star Wars fan though)

Hates a strong word for a film. However, the only films I truly hate are those that are too social and political of today's world. I watch films to escape reality, not be reminded of it.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

James Bond - totally unrealistic.

Russian sleeper spies are in the 80's, very much a national of a particular country e.g: America, grand parents.

Oh, and not going about blowing shit up & shagging every beautiful woman in a slinky dress.

Total fantasy land! If an agent existed like that he'd be bumped off in days as he drew too much attention to himself.

Total bollocks!!!!

The Marvel films have been a disaster.

Original storylines destroyed and 'Hollywoodised'.

My nan’s spare room.

Alvin and the chipmunks

I never felt that we really delved into the personal hurt and the journey that the main protagonists had gone through to get where they were.

Probably needed a prequel.
