I toast mine twice too so they are crispy. Do the first buttering when they are hot so it melts through. Then do a second buttering so there is a layer of butter all over the top too. |

Obvs Granny. If not Granny, in the form of a crumpet loaf, sliced, toasted until golden brown with proper butter and if my period is imminent with mozzarella and raclette cheese.
Not this jam nonsense that the likes of Jamie adores.
Still disappointed in jam. |

Ooohhhh! It's in a bakery chain around the North East, Bussy introduced me to their delights. You would absolutely love it, it's hard not to! |

Oh crumpets I love them! I used to refer to them as 'butter carriers'!
Gotta be toasted twice and have real butter obv! I recently discovered the delights of letting them cool and buttering them a second time, they're almost better like that! Not that I can wait that long!
I'm particular about what I have on them, always butter and eat the first one like this. Marmite is my next choice, jam and honey or syrup are acceptable, Nutella maybe and on the odd occasion melted cheese but that's it!
I've made my own from scratch and they were good, not that difficult either. I've had the giant ones (meh) and the square ones (YeH) , the sourdough ones and multi grain ones (YeH YeH)
The crumpet loaf sounds next level I want one! I bet it could take a whole block of butter though I dread to think! |

I do this two the double- toast approach is a real winner but... I don't let mine cool as I want the butter to melt into all the little holes. |
