Secret hideaway in the pennines |
I have just come off the phone with the care home my dad was in.
The call that has been expected and dreaded at the same time
My dad passed away this evening after his long battle with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia.
Rest in piece dad |

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please remember it's okay to also feel a sense of relief mixed in with the sadness and grief. It's awful to watch someone slowly slip away like that and often you've began your grieving a long time ago. He's in a better place now. |

Yes, very important. Don't feel like only certain emotions are allowed. |

This, we went through it last March and it was amongst the grief and heartache a feeling that his going was in some ways a blessed relief which felt strange..
Dementia is such an awful illness and seeing them suffer with all it brings is terrible..
Op, thoughts are with you at this time.. |

In the end with my nan it was easier to hear she had died than seeing her living as she was. I remember her as the tiny yet slightly terrifying woman who could intimidate a fully grown man. Not the way she was in the end.
Massive hugs to anyone who has lost someone in this awful way. It takes so much strength and I'm still in awe of my mum for everything she did. |

Take some time off work and FAB then gather your thoughts. Time to think of those times that made you smile. now would be a good time to write down what you want to say at his eulogy.
RIP
Blokey hug on way. |

I had the same call a couple of months ago so I feel your pain.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Try and take some time for you and allow yourself to grieve. |
