Sandwich Question
Jump to: Newest in thread
Yes, a bit random but:
How long do you take to prepare your favourite filling sandwich?
I was pondering this last night (I’m a very interesting sort see) and concluded that due to being a greedy sod, I always rush mine in order to get it in my mouth as quickly as possible.
Can you please describe in salacious detail what you put in your sandwich to? |

Do you cut then into triangles or rectangles though??
I just love sandwiches, the less filling the better but you have to have at least two fillings. Cheese and pickle or ham and cucumber. Love ham salad but it's a faff to make |

"The reason I was pondering this is that I’ve observed some folk really take their time and lovingly insert multiple ingredients.
I’m just greedy and go for basics and raw speed "

Agreed, do you cut them again so you have 4 little triangles instead of two big ones. If I'm feeling posh I cut mine into 4
When my son was small he used to get upset if I cut his sandwich into squares because apparently he used to say that triangle sandwiches meant I loved him, square ones meant I didn't |

I do love a sandwich, but I'm rather particular....
Firstly, the bread has to be granary or multiseeded. I like the texture. And dry. No butter/marg/mayo etc. Nobody wants a floppy, sloppy sandwich, do they?
Then I'll take a few slices on Torchon ham, thinly shaved cucumber & a sliced boiled egg and layer them lovingly on said bread.
Cut into triangles.
Slip into mouth, chew.
Done x |

There was this sandwich restaurant on the last series of Masterchef.
The amount of ingredients in each offering was immense and just looking at them caused me to salivate like one of Pavlov’s dogs. |

Slice of bread, big dollop of whatever sandwich filler in the fridge that hasn't gone out of date, another slice of bread on top and squash until aforementioned spread is evenly distributed, eat. |

I love a full ploughman’s sandwich/roll - Cheese, pickle, tomato, lettuce, onion, ham and mayonnaise….but am too impatient to make one myself and can only muster the willpower to throw the cheese and pickle in before I have to devour it |

Fresh crusty bread cut thick from the bakers.
Add freshly cooked Chicken Dippers.
Then some really thick hot gravy.
Whack the other slice of bread on and enjoy! |

"Making a good sandwich is an art.
White crusty bread, roast chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, a little onion and mayo (sometimes salad cream). "
Now that sounds like a lovingly and thoughtfully prepared sandwich! |

I can make a good sandwich. I’ve been known to post acre culinary recipes on here in the past.
Op, it can be an art. I can squeeze some Mayo between two slices and that will feed me, but I’d rather spend time making something that will satisfy my desire for good food than just my hunger.
Pastrami is one of my favourite filings, paired with honey roasted ham -accompanied with spicy rocket sweet chilli Mayo dressing, pickles (gherkins) and on slightly toasted think cut seeded bread. That’ll do me. |

Two slices of rye bread about 1cm thick, English mustard, french torchon ham, fresh goat cheese, slices of a tomato. Toasted for about 2 mins.
Takes longer to prepare than eat. |

"Gosh, about 2 minutes maybe?
My favourite is crunchy peanut butter, mayonnaise and sliced pickled beetroot on thick buttered white bread. Cut in half lengthways."

I very rarely eat sandwiches but when I do one of my husband and I's favourite is grated cheese, grated carrot, grated red onion all mixed together with salad cream, on fresh white bread with real salted butter. It makes flipping ages to make though. |

No, I'll have to give it a go. Don't tend to buy salad cream so might have to raid my mum's . |

It's entirely possible I just have cheap taste. I also prefer supermarket brand mixed fruit jam to any of the posh stuff . |

Pop open a tin of tuna into a bowl. Add a generous squirt of salad cream followed by a dash of malt vinegar. Mix together thoroughly with a fork. Two slices of buttered bread, doesn't matter if white or brown to me. Empty bowl onto one slice of bread, spread out tuna & flatten. Apply top slice & cut diagonally. Add some sea salt & vinegar posh crisps on the side & enjoy. |
