Anyone who is rude to the staff will get a death stare from me for the duration of their meal.
But seriously, the cost! Certainly here in Edinburgh, we’ve lost sight of what is an acceptable amount to pay. So I had a chicken salad out recently. It was £13 for the basic salad, and then extra for the chicken on top!
If I hadn’t been on a diet I’d have thought ‘fuck it’ and ordered a burger! |

"Getting the bill…"
Having to pay it is far more annoying!
On a more serious note I’m sometimes perturbed by mandatory service charges esp. if the service has been crap! Normally tip minimum 15% for good service. 10a% for good / meets expectation. But nothing at all if poor. |

Slow service, small portions, crap food, loud table of people near us, kids screaming, mixing orders up, servers with a face like a slapper arse....
Not that I'm fussy of course

The staff asking if everything is OK just as you shoved a forkload into your mouth! I'm sure the buggers do it on purpose. If there was a problem I'd soon get their attention! |

It’s called check backs. If you say great then complain at the end of the meal they can say hang on you were enjoying it . |

Not a fan of eating out, unless for the family or to celebrate.
I guess I just have it too good at home. Big portions, exactly as desired, fantastic quality and drink.
Plus the gratuity can be paid in the best fashion! |

Being within eye or ear shot of people with bad table manners.
Restaurants that are too loud to enjoy a conversation with those you are sat with.
Poor food and service.
Restaurants that won't accommodate small changes to orders. |

Deciding what to order.
I'd love to go to a place where you order by price and they just give you something worth that much.
Today I'd be ordering the £2.75 and a glass of water |

Some of the above - plus looking around and finding couples, families and groups of people who don’t converse at all - just spend literally the whole time on their phones. I find it so sad - particularly when it’s families. Eating out is a great opportunity to catch up and chat to each other. X |

"Evening all . Bad service for me . How about you "
Slightly odd, this one, but after a lovely evening of good service, food, wine etc, service goes to snot when you ask for the bill. You’re pissed, well fed, happy, and they wait until the bit where you have your wallet in your hand to fuck things up. I suddenly become invisible. |

Use of cutlery is going to shit, more and more diners using their knives and forks like Americans do, holding them like a dagger and stabbing away at food before switching the fork to the right hand to shovel it into them. |

Whispering waiter that I can’t understand, giving me 5 minutes of waffle about the Amuse Bouche.
And restaurants making a balls of cooking steak. I ordered a steak medium recently and a good vet could have got the fucking thing running around again, it was so rare. Wankers |

When the waiter or waitress puts your meal on the table and then says the word " Enjoy " on its own...THAT really fucking annoys me ..to me it just reeks of smugness... |

"The price of soft drinks kills me"
Wet sales make 90% of a restaurants profits soft drinks are the biggest Mark up because everyone will have at least 1 drink and 1 drink will cover the cost of about 40 drinks (post mix)
bottles and cans cost more because they have to make a profit for the cost of keeping the fridges running 24/7 and paying the staff etc.
Coffee is another good profit maker 1 cup of the old Wetherspoon's coffee (when they had the urns on the bar) would pay for the entire urn which is why you could refill, also why the first thing restraint staff will offer is a coffee or a free drink.

Most of the time it's the people I go with. A lot of them complain and fuss about every single thing. I end up feeling quite embarrassed and in turn, can't enjoy my food.

"In-house staff not being paid enough by their employer, or treated with respect by their customers "
Oh god, absolutely this for me.
Pre-covid I used to dine out more often than I ate at home. I rarely had a bad experience but when I did I could usually have the issue rectified with a minimum of fuss.
It really grieves me when people treat the wait staff like shit - there's just no need. |

Unsupervised brats running around. If your kid has ADHD or something similar then don't take them to restaurants and ruin other people's evenings.
If the service charge is added to the bill I deduct whatever percentage it is if the service hasn't been above average.
If I feel I want to leave a tip I'll ask the wait staff who served me throughout the meal whether they get the tip or if it goes into a communal pot.

Don't quite find that quite right, one of my pet hates are unruly children that aren't managed properly
But coming from someone with ADHD, that shouldn't be a reason to not go out in public, its all about the parenting |

If you're (not you personally) the kind of parent that can't control your child then you shouldn't take them to a RESTAURANT. Take them to McDonald's or somewhere similar. Think about others who are expecting a pleasant evening.
