So the retro games thread got me thinking, if you could play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be? Retro or Modern
I think I would go with Sonic 1 |

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
Damn...impossible choice when you've tried so many iconic titles.
Probably World of Warcraft as it was during the Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King expansion when it hit its peak |

Agreed on Warcraft before it got all dumbed down and weird. I liked it in those older phases |

For Retro it would be Super Metroid as it was the original "Get Gud" game for me, had to really put the work in to master it.
Modern would be Skyrim just as its so vast and I still don't think I've seen everything I think it would be a good one only game (would do one game with just the goal of killing every NPC in the world). |

If you go with Zelda then I think it has to be ‘a link to the past’ It’s the ultimate retro game for me |

I started with pac man way back in 1983 and and and that lead me Ll the way up to playing Half Life Alyx in VR with who knows how many titles in between.
I don't think there is any game in my 38 years of gaming that could keep me going on its own for the rest of my life. Quite frankly I expect to still be playing the newest titles during my twilight years..
But I know what my favourites have been over the years so if I had to pick something it would be some sort of city based survival resource management game...
Surviving Mars perhaps?

Mechwarrior was and still is the dogs bollocks. I'm a big fan of the battletech stuff
Ive been testing a VR mod for Mexhwarrior 5. Childhood dreams do come true is all I'm gonna say |

Surprised people would want to play very linear and never changing games as they only game they would ever play. That would be extremely monotonous surely. Very few of the retro games (some exceptions) offer that.
I'm yet to narrow it down but MMO, single player open world, rpg or RTS would probably what I'd go for. Anything that has replay value past one or two playthrough. |

The ones that immediately springnto mind are Golden Axe or Altered Beast, but theres only so much you can do with those...
I loved the Burnout series, and cant ever see myself getting bored of the crash junction mode. |

Oooh … two different answer’s
If we are talking console… then there are WWE smack down on PlayStation that is a classic… or a madden game before they ruined it!!!
If we are talking arcade… oooh there was an outrun game in the Leicester squad huge arcade that had a proper Ferrari testarosa as the actual car you played it in….
And I was bloody brilliant at outrun!!!! It was my one way to super impress a girl at 15!!! Lol
Yes… chick magnet moi!!! |

Been playing video games on various platforms since the early 80’s, so lots to choose from. I’d go with Gran Turismo. I’ve owned every release, it’s why I got a PlayStation in the first place, and once out on the PS5 I’ll probably upgrade the PS4. |

Tetris on a retro gameboy with the wire to connect and make it a 2 player game.
How frustrating was it to get the connection just right and turn the gameboys on at the same time! |

"I wonder if I’m the only person who’s never ever played one
Really? I’ll get you blasting scroats away on COD whilst shouting obscenities down the mic in no time "
Well there’s an offer
Does Pac-Man count in the arcade in the 80s? |

No Man Sky for me, massive procedurally generated planets to explore. Mining, building, taming animals as pets.
Space and planetary combat, and planets that will kill you if you leave your spaceship.
Oh, and the game visuals are beautiful, and free on Xbox game pass at the moment, I recommend taking a look. |

"San Andreas
Embarrassed to say how many hours I spent on that one
I know it was my childhood "
A classic game for sure
Remember the awesome and often hilarious voice acting? Such as when someone would smack into your car and your character would utter, ‘Yeah, thanks! I really appreciate that!’ |

Red Dead Redemption 2.
It's not my favourite game ever (definitely in my top 5) but it's absolutely a game I could string out for the rest of my life if I had to. So much to do and explore! |

"Doom on the Playstation. Music and atmoshpere superior to the pc version."
It did have the better atmosphere it’s just a shame the later levels of ultimate doom were either cut down severely or missing altogether |

Gran Turismo 4 was a revelation at the time and I played it more than any other game but, if GT7 has same achievement levels I may be won over.
That or Metal Gear Solid or Abe's Odyssey.
Can't choose!
Oh F! I forgot Soul Reaver and Darksiders trilogy |

Arcades going and spending 10p on a game luckily we have a few centers that still have retro games, you pay one entrance fee and all the games inside are free to play everything from 1960s to present day games, spent many fun afternoons playing away on old games happy memories! |

Forget it. Too difficult to answer.
Platform, racing, FPS. They all have something the others don’t have. Pgr2 is some of the most fun I have had with racing games but I can shoot strangers in line if I chose that… |

Despite liking techy stuff I just never got into them. Even good flight sims and fps games bore me after while, and I won't even try them unless they have realistic controllers, ie not a playstation type pad. |
