I think this requires some proper scientific research. I will get Sydney uni to sponsor it.
I'd suggest liquid volume but some of us would sip or swallow the lot.
The important thing is usable volume though.

I think we need a controlled test.
Put marshmallows in, one at a time and do not swallow or chew. Say 'fluffy bunnies' after each one added.
