Listening to an interview with Dave Grohl tonight and he's just the coolest guy. So effortlessly funny, smart and talented.
Who are the people who personify 'cool' for you, and can you put in words why that is ? |

Cool is a state of mind. I’ve found the most results with walking into a situation believing I’m awesome and working hard to make it a reality.
Life gets better with a positive self image, it gives you the freedom to spread that energy into the world. Also! Hit the gym folks |

"Rachel Riley. Smart, beautiful, seems to have a fun personality. Just cool
Also took on antisemitic online bullies for which much respect."
I read "antisemitic" and "bullies" before reading the full sentence and thought I'd made a horrible choice |

Probably an unpopular opinion, however..
Considering all the things she has done throughout her life, for embracing change, for longevity, for every person who's life she's touched, for having the eyes of the world on her because of who she was when she was born and not having much choice in her career... I'm going with the Queen.
Her son ain't too shit hot mind. |

Has to be David Attenborough for me. Bringing nature alive and the way even though he’s probably seen it all, he still seems genuinely excited about his work or caputuring it on screen (although not him) for us to witness |

American here. Before moving, I had no understanding of how symbolic the queen is here. As someone from a society naturally skeptical of rulers, I agree she deserves the compliment. ???? ???? |

That unforced enthusiasm is very cool and infectious. |

With you on dave grohl he's a living legend. For me Johnny Depp springs to mind and as for a woman it has to be Helen mirren, classy, still sexy as hell and really got it going on |

Steve McQueen
Some people just have a quality that sets them apart from others. He didn't even have to try. Wasn't known for his wit or quotes, He just had cool in spades. |

Susan Ballion- although you might know her better as Siouxsie Sioux (as in ...and the Banshees).
Pretty much marched to her own tune for the last 40 years, was a significant part of the punk & goth scene (if you've ever seen the clip of The Sex Pistols making Reg Grundy swear on live TV- guess who is sat there with them).
She did 'Girl Power' before most of the spice girls were born, and without using it as marketing bollocks, her image and sound is iconic without trying to be an icon- she's just Siouxsie...smart, sassy and effortlessly cool |

So many cool dudes on this thread.
Miriam Margolyes for coolest woman. No contest in my mind; she’s a legend!
Already said earlier, but Keane Reeves is one of the coolest, kindest people I can think of, especially after all the personal tragedies he’s lived through over the years. |

I thought Charlie Watts was, so unassuming and no ego, was in the biggest band on the planet and viewed the whole Rock n roll adulation as total bullshit.

I think Sam Elliott has to be the coolest man on Earth. That voice. That moustache. That acting.
Ok maybe not the acting. But that voice. It’s like a shot of Southern Comfort and Ice. Smooth and deep.

David Beckham and purely because I didn't realise untill recently quite how much he does for charity And how much he visits children's wards most of which is kept well away from the media. Also the ultimate cool female has to be big liz (the queen) |
