In all honesty I think it’s pretty hard to call any vampire movie “good”, they all end up a bit cheesy but if I had to pick I’d go with Blade as being the best of the bunch |

"I like the old 1960s ones with Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing "
Absolutely this
Also (although not strictly a film - rather a two part mini series) the 1979 version of Salem’s Lot starring David (Ken Hutchinson!) Soul.

Did you know that they would actually go to a cinema to watch Looney Tunes cartoons?
This is actually true as I read they got kicked out one time for laughing so hard lol. |

The Addiction. Beautifully sleazy.
Only Lovers Left Alive. Beautiful Tom Hiddleston, in a quietly funny film.
What We Do in the Shadows. New Zealand film that inspired the series, it's a very funny film. |

I can’t remember which hammer vampire film it was. There was one where there were vampires chained in the cellar. Always made me scared going down in the cellar at night on my own in the old house. |

Despite the unfortunate title, Blackula and to a lesser degree, it’s sequel was actually very good with some notably very creepy scenes.
William Marshall was absolutely fantastic in the titular role with his incredibly commanding, baritone voice.
Well worth checking out |

Another series of note for an interesting, modern twist on vampirology and an early role for Idris Alba was in, Ultraviolet (not to be confused with the film of the same name).
Too bad it only lasted six episodes though and was never renewed for a second season |

I didn't see What We Do until earlier this year. Someone here recommended the series and I really enjoyed it, then ended up watching the film - different but equally brilliant! |

Dammit, it's on Now TV. I'll have to keep an eye out for it on one of the channels/services I've got - thanks for the recommendation! |

I’m a bit of an old school film lover, so for me it’s definitively the peter Cushing and Christopher Lee Dracula classics! I could watch those all day long, and maybe finish the day off with the Peter Cushing original Hound of the Baskervilles, perfect Miss PC |

Who remembers the power cuts we had in the UK back in the 1970's.You would always watch a hammer horror vampire film to the end then as if by magic there would be a power cut. I used to go up to bed with a candle scared out of my Brains incase sonething jumped out at me. Of course had to look under the bed to. Funny how night shadows play tricks with you. Lol. |

Used to get my sexy black girlfriend to do the snake dance. Having a big foot fetish she would pour champagne down her leg onto her foot and command me to suck her toes etc. Sheer heaven and very very sexy. |

"Being Human
A vampire, werewolf and ghost share a house.
What could possibly go wrong....
That was good"
I loved watching that show. The practical effects were really good especially when George turns into a werewolf which is a nice homage to American Werewolf in London. |

The original 1930s Dracula with Bela Lugosi, plus the Spanish language version filmed on the same sets on the night shift, which is better in every respect except that Lugosi is the better Count.
Nosferatu is very freaky, and the Werner Herzog remake Nosferatu The Vampyre is worth a watch.
There's an early Guillermo del Toro film called Cronos which uses an insect parasite which keeps people young but needing blood.
My favourite vampire drama is a British TV series from the 90s called Ultraviolet (nothing to do with the film franchise) starring Jack Davenport and the rather lovely Susannah Harker about a secret branch of the police that fights vampires - it's very down to Earth, not many special effects, a crime series in which the villains (or are they?) happen to be vampires. If you've not see it, it's available to stream on All4. |
