Visiting imaginary cities

Stockport

I'm having an explore of Gormenghast this afternoon, searching for any fabsters lost in the maze of rooms and corridors.

Later on going to Cactusville, Texas, to have cow pie for dinner with Desperate Dan.

Which cities and places that never were would you like to visit, and why? Who would you take along with you, or hope to meet there?

I'd love to explore a real life diagon alley from Harry Potter, willy wonka's chocolate factory and then swing by gousteau's restaurant for one of remy's finest meals (ratatouille)

New Crobuzon as first featured in 'Perdido Street Station' by China Mieville, R'lyeh where Cthulhu is imprisoned or as a blast from my childhood Mega City One.

All three would be weird, wonderful and utterly fantastical. I'd take any fabbed who had a sense of adventure and who fancied a hint of danger tinged with darkness.

I think it'd be fun to explore an ancient Greek idea of a futuristic utopia, so, Plato's Republic.

Not strictly imaginary but Alexandria before the Legendary Library burned down. Or perhaps Liliput.

Dinner with Desperate Dan was good, but those cow pies are huge and there's no way I could eat the horns! Later on I think that I'll hitch a lift to Slumberland with Little Nemo, then carry on through The Dreaming to visit Lucian's library in the castle of Morpheus. I'm told that the library has a copy of every book that has never been written, so it'll be a great place to spend a few hours. I should be able to make my way through L-space from there to Alexandria, via the Unseen University library. Must remember to take a banana for the Librarian, ook!

If I meet up with LeoBlooms in Alexandria, we could also call at Plato's Republic to pick up Swing, and finish the evening singing Walzting Matilda in a bar at A Town Like Alice.
