Who remembers the saddest moments in any animated movie?
I know a sad moment from the movie The Adventures of Mark Twain where we're shown Adam and Eve in their last moments together in The Diary of Adam and Eve.
They're in their senior years writing in their diaries who should die of old age first. It does have a sweet moment where Adam gives Eve her first Valentine and he even comes up with the word. The gift he gave her was a heart shaped leaf which came from a tree in the long lost Garden of Eden. She thinks back to the Garden but knows that even it is long gone, she has Adam and is happy and content.
In the final scene of their story, we see that Eve was the first to go and Adam writes in his diary "where ever she was, there was Eden".
This moment is a mixture of heartwarming and sad and is up there with Carl and Ellie from UP. |

"The bit where Peter Rabbit starts.....
And the time when they decided to make Peter Rabbit 2. "
I've never been keen on the Peter Rabbit movies either.
They're the British equivalent to the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. |

I agree. It didn't bother me as much either but it was still a pretty cool and creepy movie. |

Not necessarily a sad 'moment', but if you're willing to try something different, check out "I lost my body" on Netflix, the whole film is deep, harrowing but beautiful and thought provoking.

Where to start?!
Right; Bing Bong’s ‘death’ in Disney’s, Inside Out - that was bloody traumatic!
Hazel’s last breaths before being taken by the black rabbit in Watership Down.
Dumbo’s mother singing him to sleep whilst depressed from him and finally, the scene in Disne’s, Tarzan when he decides to join the human world, rendering both his ape mother (and me!!!!!) in floods of tears |

There and to the left a bit |
The last 15 minutes of Toy Story 3, from the incinerator scene onwards, I was a blubbering mess in the cinema - proper full on uncontrollable sobs - even now when I see it it gets me.
The end of Toy Story 4 too when Woody decides to go his own way
The start of Up is another one.
And apparently my first ever cinema visit to see Bambi I had to be taken out I was crying that much. |

The whole first 40 mins was worse than bambi dying, good call on transformers the movie. "
You're absolutely right. It's terrible.
"Hey kids! Here's the movie about all those characters you love! You've got them as toys, you've followed them through two seasons of the cartoon, you've read dozens of issues of the comic and half a dozen story books... and now we're going to GRAPHICALLY AND HORRIFYINGLY MURDER ALL OF THEM RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. Here are a bunch of strangers you've never met before. Now care about them instead. YOU GOT THE TOUCH!" |

I’d have to agree on toy story 4. The original was my childhood and it felt like the end of it. Woody and Buzz going their separate ways. |

The Bible doesn't say how old Eve was when she died, but it does say Adam lived to be 930 years old. If she lived anywhere near as long as that, I'd say the old adage "She had a good innings" applies. |

The end of Charlotte's web, the old animated version from the 70s, where the concept of death & loss is explained to the character, Wilbur.
Also "the red turtle"- the entire film. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it. |

Here’s another one, not Disney and actually an Anime series: Fist Of The North Star.
There were actually many a tear jerking moment in that; The deaths of Shuu, and especially Toki really hit me.
Hell, even Souther’s demise brought a tear and he was an arsehole!

I’ve just thought of another Disney induced, Niagra Falls out the eyeballs moment:
Whilst not, in my opinion, one of the studios better efforts, there is an incredibly sad, yet ultimately, delightful scene in, The Princess and The Frog wherein the main villain (played by the brilliant Kieth David) steps on and crushes the old firefly who subsequently dies but subsequently transforms into a star next to his true love in the night sky.
If you’ve seen it - you’ll know |

Disney - yet again! (Sadistic buggers!) and this time, Hercules.
When our hero sacrifices his own life to leap into the sea of souls (and we see him withering away for good measure! - cheers for that Disney!) in order to retrieve his love.
Thankfully, the pay off is rather awesome though!

"When Dumbo goes to see his mum when she's locked up...that's the only bit of a film that's ever made me cry
What? ever?!
Yep, ever...my heart is an icy cold lump of stone! "
Ouch! What about swinging the emotional pendulum in the other direction; feelgood/uplifting films? Do they get the europhic tears flowing? |

I can remember one scene that was very sad and still brings to my eye and that is the scene from Disney's The Sword in The Stone when Merlin changes Arthur back from a squirrel and the girl squirrel who was smitten with him ends up confused at first but then runs off into a tree heartbroken and crying as she watches Arthur and Merlin head back to the castle. |

"I find Disney's Coco a mixture of sad and happiness all the way through, I'm a terrible crying mess by the end and I've watched it more times than I care to mention."
I watched the ending earlier today and it still brings a happy tear to my eye seeing Coco reunited with her papa in the afterlife. |

The animated version of "When the Wind Blows" by Raymond Briggs. The old couple are all "stiff upper lip Hilda" and "the leaflet tells us everything we need do when the bomb goes off" and "I wonder if this radiation sickness thing is like having an upset tummy?". And at the end, when their hair is falling out and their skin is peeling... "I think that we should get inside our paper sacks now and lie down"...
Also "Grave of the Fireflies" from Studio Ghibli nearly destroyed me. |

I remember another one by Raymond Briggs known as Granpa where it has the grandfather telling his granddaughter stories and near the end, she comes to see him only to find he's not home because he died. It's quite a sad ending |

Up gets me and the last bit of The Good Dinosaur had me taking a few deep breaths. But for a real heart wrenching animated movie then it’s Grave of the Fireflies; it will break the hardest of hearts. I’m welling up just thinking about it

"Waltz with Bashir"
If an animated documentary about the war in Lebanon in the 80's is something you would find captivating, I can't recommend it enough.
Admittedly I can't think of any 'will make you cry' moments, but as a harrowing and thought provoking comment on the terrors of war and the effect it can have on the human pshyche, it'll leave you speechless. |

Both of these…. Both films that SHOULD and NEED to be watched, but leave you feeling emotionally wrecked afterwards.
The part of “When the wind blows” is when their Son tells them they’re not building a shelter because they’re that close to London it won’t be any use |

"When Andy left for college in Toy Story..
That made me more sad than the toys holding hands in the incinerator "
I know they went to Bonny but honestly its the only film my eyes ever leaked in public watching lol |

"Casper, cried my eyes out in the cinema "
A cartoon of Casper was sad when a fox he became friends with name Fergie was killed by a hunter. It broke my heart seeing Casper break down from losing a friend.
It may have not been from the movie but it was still a sad episode. |

Another sad moment has to be from Disney's Snow White when the Seven dwarves weep while they're around Snow White in what looks like a Wake. It's even sad when Grumpy breaks down and all the animals outside weeps as well. |
