A primary school posted a video of the teachers and children having fun making a video in the style of Fat Les..Vindaloo to cheer on England. Complaints of children acting like hooligans and a sea of white faces have made the school take down the video.. I think it was great fun for children and adults alike and a great learning experience...

I think the bigger issue with such a video is whether or not the school have the consent of the parents of the children featured in it to publish it online.
It's such a delicate area.
You even have to be careful when taking pictures of your own kids in a playground or any setting where other kids are around. |

"A wide cross section of sources
At least we know which papers thomas reads now"
Lionel, if you were the only occupant of a train carriage and someone had left a copy of the Mail (or Daily Fail as some really witty people say) and you were certain you wouldn’t be seen, would you have a quick look through it?
Come on fess up, you are amongst friends. |

I read the letters section once and I needed a shower but I may have a look at the footy bit. |

"Kids losing out on fun again
I mean they're not. They already had the fun making the video. They cbt erase that from their memories can they? "
Good point. They will indeed have had some fun in what has been a tough 16 months or so.
Current partner is a primary school deputy head , with a musical background. The joy kids get from these things overwhelms the effort needed to put them together. It’s then great when she gets thanks from the parents, even long after the event. In a pub garden the other week, she pointed out a few of the kids and what to me was a tough looking mum - all tattoos and bling. Without a word the mum had noticed what my partner was drinking ( small bottle of Prosecco) and presented her one with a quick, quiet “thanks for all you do”. Brought tears to my eyes. A lovely gesture indeed but done in such a classy way. Never judge. |

The story happened. The kids and teacher were put on Twitter trial.
I feel for them.
The source is always wheeled out in these cases to deflect once again from the actual issue.
How about an opinion on what happened?

Excellent contribution to the discussion. Was this on the source or the issue?
I think you can agree that some news sources are rather biased and have an interest in stirring up the disassociated of the population into thinking their enhlush rights are being washed away by snowflakes..... Its important to interrogate the source material. |

What happened was the kids done something at school snd some fruit loops on Twitter got annoyed and now terms likes snofklwake and woke are getting bandied around and people are being pitted against each other over a non story.
And these type of stories appear every day to stoke up some type of 'wad'.
It was on the front page of the times yday.
Its blatantly clear whsts happening, let's not look at real shit what's going on..look over there.
Apologies I'm tired and particularly ranty today. |

I don’t care about “snow flackery” I think it’s a shame for the kids that their innocent performance was put under scrutiny.
The hysteria in this culture war goes both ways. |

At primary school there would have been much learning and shared experience through this activity. |

I'd question how hysterical this actually was.
The only news outlets covering it initially were the Mail, Sun and Express. With essentially the same article, quoting the same three tweets.
Were the school actually bullied, or scared by a parent?
It all sounds a bit molehill into mountain to me. I can't imagine virtually anyone being offended by the video. Whether they are "woke" or not. |

I think you're right to. I can't see anything wrong with the video. It was a bit of fun and a release from the shit show of the past 18 months. People are clearly excited about the footbalk and this was just a bit of for them to let off steam with. |

My dad doesn't like football. " never watch the firm?
Me neither. The old time arena games except now they wear knee-tight, pink shoes and overreact like primadonna princess when been tackled, rolling on the floor for ten minutes and 50 metres… what an example for youngsters |

Personally I think it’s ridiculous the abuse this video got. The school has previously put up videos of the children performing songs, plus BGT finalists, were there any complaints about them then, unlikely.
This is just a bunch of kids that obviously like to perform and recreated a video of a football song, which is apt for this week.
Did none of you do this as children, recreate music videos
As for social media some need to take long hard look at themselves and get out from behind their keyboards and experience life a little, you never know you might find some proper joy |

"I think the bigger issue with such a video is whether or not the school have the consent of the parents of the children featured in it to publish it online.
It's such a delicate area.
You even have to be careful when taking pictures of your own kids in a playground or any setting where other kids are around.
But is it an 'issue'? Really?
I'm open to debate and have my opinion swayed by reasoned argument, but c'mon, who wouldn't want to see their kids smiling face in the paper back in the day?! What's changed?"
There are reasons, some people just don’t like it, if kids are adopted they are not allowed to put pics anywhere, like Facebook or anything.
Schools have consent forms for this kind of things now anyway, as standard. |

Yes. Domestic abuse survivors and women and parents in protected care such as refuges etc have to be very careful. I watch a harrowing video of a woman and her children who had to be moved half way up the country because her ex had found out where the children went to school. This was all within a days notice. Massive upheaval for them all and great heartache and upset for all involved.
Obviously not saying this is what happened as a result of this video, just answering your question around wether close control of children's images was an issue. |

I wasn't offended by the video but I thought it was embarrassing SHITE.
If that's what they think constitutes a good use of children's time I'd take my kids out.
Fun yes.... idiocy no.
No kids did anything in the making of this video except march and scream on queue .... including pushing people over.
Shite.
P.S. Kids love anything that doesn't keep them inside.
Doesn't make it good for them. |

He got this one wrong.
It's indicative of the type of person who now says ....... awwwwwwwwwww the kids loved it ..... they also love chocolate and being on their arse in front of the telly. |

Is there doubt what happened?
All I've seen are three quoted tweets. One, apparently, from a parent. Searching Twitter, FB etc. there does not seem to be anything else...
All we therefore have is the head drawing attention to his school (self), again, as far as I can see.
The three articles in the three, sympathetic to this sort of made up furore papers, are all basically the same. Almost as if someone sent them something to cut and paste...
If the school was "bullied" online, I'd expect a bit more evidence. |
