Your favourite films from the 1970’s
Jump to: Newest in thread
Ahhhh….the 1970’s; A truly fantastic decade for films!
We had the big Summer blockbusters such as Jaws which made us all terrified to go into the water, Star Wars, which made us all want to own a light sabre and Saturday Night Fever which made us all yearn to don groovy bell bottoms and boogie on down on a multicoloured dance floor.
Then we had the glorious slew of disaster movies: The Towering Inferno, The Poseidon Adventure and Rollercoaster.
Animals turned upon us all in The Killer Bees, The Swarm and Grizzly and there were conspiracies aplenty in such classics as, Capricorn One, The Parallax View, Marathon Man and All The President’s Men.
Please list your favourite seventies movies here good folks ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Was born in the 70s and absolutely loads of brilliant films amd music made in that decade. On film it looks a very sexy , exciting era and great fun although real life was probably very unglamorous and mundane particularly in the UK.
Thunderbolt and lightfoot is a great shout, the blaxploitation movies were good and bruce lee films. Bridge too far possibly the best war film ever made and obviously jaws. |

I was going to say Cool Hand Luke but apparently that was 60s. I"d go for the original Star Wars and Mad Max but I'm sure they are some I've missed as I only saw them later x |

All the no-wave road/dystopia movies. Started with Easy Rider, then through Vanishing Point, Duel, Electra Glide In Blue, Thieves Like Us, Badlands, Death Race 2000, Rollerball. Probably culminated in Taxi Driver. |

"A Man Called Horse hasn't had a mention yet,, awesome film"
Oh yes! And The Return Of A Man Called Horse.
Do you remember the ritual scene wherein Richard Harris is strung up via bone hooks inserted into his chest and has to hang there until his flesh rips? Eeeee that scene still makes me wince! ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

"American Graffiti - Still one of my favourite all time films. "
An absolute classic. Despite getting completely panned by the critics and being very different from the first one, More American Graffiti is still a guilty pleasure of mine. |
