What is the greatest and best song in the world?

The Birdy Song; A musical milestone in the history of the art that even at a mere three minute run length, succeeded at utterly eclipsing the entire works of Mozart and Beethoven with it’s sheer musical ingenuity and chordal and timbral structure. |

Personally it’s ….
Curse of the traveller by Chris Rea.
I first heard it as a teenager and was totally captivated by the music and lyrics. I also knew it would be a song that I would carry with me for the rest of my life. I felt the lyrics were speaking to me and they have offered me comfort in some of the worst days of my life.

It’s difficult because different songs are individually brilliant for different reasons for me:
All is full of Love - Bjork (best engineered record)
Venus in furs - Velvet Underground (it’s a sordid song with sordid words and sordid music, it encapsulates “sordid)
Little Giant - Roo Panes (because this is what love does to you, this is how it makes you feel, it echos in your soul)
I could go on. I won’t.

So many to mention but Back in Black by AC/DC always gets the loudest cheer when performed by covers bands that I've seen (and by the band themselves!). So going by audience reaction I've witnessed, I'd say that one has a lot of fans. |

I met the man who wrote the Birdie Song when I was a kid. It's a very exciting thing. Luke |
