Just a bit of Tom Hardy appreciation... He's a remarkable actor and an incredibly handsome guy!! His performance in Locke rivals Richard Burtons' peak-career work... I've been a fan since Star Trek Nemesis & his work never disappoints! |

His action packed, all fence jumping apprehending of those bike thieves a few years back was bloody awesome!
He also is a well known lover of animals which gets him extra brownie points in my book to |

"A friend of mine is friends with him through a charity he works with. I've never met him and probably never will, good actor though "
I've never had the good fortune to meet him, but I've heard from people who've met him in press lines/outside premieres etc and everyone says he's lovely! |

"Should b next James bond x "
I wholeheartedly agree. As an actor, he has all of the qualities that Bond fans (of which I'm definitely one!) would love to see... I think that he could bring us a pared - back interpretation of the part... Hard-edged and ruthless, but not afraid to show vulnerability and doubt, like Timothy Daltons' marvellous portrayal of 007....
James Norton is a very close second. I've seen a lot of his theatre and television work and he's fantastic...I met him and found him to be a real gentleman, lovely person! |

Proper man crush for Tom. His part as Bane in Batman was unreal.
If you havent seen it already, you NEED to watch Martina Cole's- The Take. It's a 3 part mini series that he plays alongside his real life wife. Absolutely epic. |

There's no denying it, any of his work referenced in the thread here is well worth your time - I'm biased as I have a proper man-crush on Mr Hardy, but I don't think he's ever given a bad performance... Whether it's advertising/voiceover work, television or film, he's magnetic.
I wish I could see him do some theatre work... |

My missus loves him in Taboo. I thought he was brilliant and gifted after seeing Bronson, Locke, The Revenant and The Take. I didn't even recognise him in the Revenant! He's a brilliant character actor - he's made two comic villains work as Bane and Eddy Brock in Venom.

Brilliant as Bane in The Dark Knight movies. I ended up going as him for Halloween to the clubs that year. Wearin face mask in a club before it was cool.

His role in Locke is a marvellous chamber - piece for showing exactly how talented he is... It plays like a stage monologue in many ways, and it's absolutely gripping. If you were doing a deep dive into his work, it should top of the list IMO |

He does not like it though first thing in the morning when the council leaf blowers start clearing the leaves from the open spaces around his house in Hampstead Heath. Can't have everything I suppose. |

"Locke" IS imho one of the best static shot character driven films of the 21st Century! Most people would generally not watch it, but I watch all kinds of films. Ask any other actor to be a character talking almost straight to camera for an hour and a half - most will balk. Its a heavy role too. The Welsh accent is not easy to get! My missus says he reminds her a bit of Richard Burton!

It wasn't "The Take" I saw him in lol It was "The Drop". Another good film. I wasn't so sure of him in "Nemisis" and I'm a bit of Trekky fan. It was a bit of mad role, my missus just remember's the PVC-like suit he was wearing. There's a good comedy film with him, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon called "This means War" it's a strictly by the numbers action comedy. Even though the writer's of it have blatantly favoured Chris Pines character, Tom Hardy's seems to steal every scene - well my missus says so! |

"Agree with the previous poster on the point about Richard Burton - in terms of the sheer charisma and magnetism, TH is probably the nearest actor our generation has to Burton " I thought he was good in lawless and enjoyed the film but I don’t think it did that well or received favourably by the critics

"In all seriousness, the advertising and voiceover reels are worth seeking out, TH has a beautiful speaking voice, and they're little acting masterclasses "
I remember when he did storytelling on Cbeebies - All the Tom Hardy appreciation society was watching lol. As Alfie in PB he's brilliant - he reminds me of Alec Guinness as Fagin. Pulling off a cockney golders green jewish accent is tough, but he does it with ease. My missus loves him in the film "Warrior" cos he's showing off his ripped physique |

"Definitely want to see him as 007!! Can't think of a better choice for the role"
I've a bit Tom Hardy man crush, Ryan Gosling too (loved him in blade runner 2049 ).
I'd love to see Micheal Fassbender as Bond because of seeing him in "Shame" - its an acting masterclass about him being a sex addict. Powerful stuff and the missus loves his dark, brooding, serious character in this film too. (Plus she got a peek at his dangly bits.) |

It was written by Nick Cave. The media are not a huge fan. |

As I say, I've been a fan for nearly 20 years, and I have never seen him deliver anything but A- grade performances. |

Full credit to him for his performance in Legend, Bronson, Peaky blinders amongst others.
On a personal level though, he gives it the big one about being from a rough area in London with a disadvantaged background. Has a london/ faux Jamaican road man accent, when the reality is he's a spoilt posh kid from a very wealthy family.
I remember him being called out in an interview and he spat his dummy out, refusing to answer questions.
Never be ashamed where you come from, it's only your starting place not your final destination. |

"Let's face it, the guy is seriously talented : his role as Eames in Inception is a classic for any fan of his work - "dream a little bigger"... "
I love that bit. . . He says the line the pulls up a grenade launcher or something. My missus is hoping Taboo will come back. I'm hoping he develops a series or film when his production company bought the rights to an absolute gem of a graphic novel called "100 Bullets" . There's a couple of characters he could do with ease. It's an amazing story, I can't sing it praises any higher. |

I haven't heard about that, must look it up! I think it's wonderful that Mr Hardy is moving into production as well as performing... |
