I agree OP, maybe they get out on the wrong side of the bed  . I think some just like to make it look like their offended to start trouble too.

Theres that adage that, thoughts become words, words become actions. Thats great when its motivating yourself to do a positive thing like loose weight or save money but what when the intention isnt positive and the process leads to violence or abuse or self harm? |

As I get older I find I take offence less and give it more lol.
I just don't give a fuck anymore, and call things the way I see them . I am completely intolerant, of crap like, bullying, racism, bigotry, wilfully ignorance, lies, and bullshit.....
I no longer let it escalate to the point where it makes me angry. I just firmly and politely call it out when I see it, and then leave it up to the person to either take offence or ammend their words, and or behaviour.....

Very much so - we only have to watch people like Trump (am I glad we do not hear so much dribble from him these days), whose thoughts become words and unfortunately encouraged others to act in unlawful ways.
Words, language is such a powerful tool, whether we look at poetry, motivational speech, well-thought out arguments in debates, but also in personal insults and other verbal attacks.
We do need to be mindful of how we use words and that some words are not neutral anymore but have connotations. |

I would agree with you. I feel as if I've used up enough of my time, energy, resolve, stuffing, whatever you call it, I've used up enough. I need what I've got left for enjoying myself and will now pick my battles carefully or just have the confidence to walk away knowing I've done the right thing for me. |

As the majority of communication is actually body language, I'm not surprised in the least
But i also think people have different levels of humour and circumstances in their life /day /week have a tremendous impact on how they interpret /receive /view text information

Delicate issue, my opinion is that if words that have really been used to offend and upset in a bullying way and meant to put someone down then it's as bad a physical bullying. If however someone has innocently said something in a wrong context or in a passing comment I don't feel they should be hammered because someone has taken offence, especially if immediately they realise and apologise. Offence is taken far too easily these days, being thick skinned has it's good points and being able to recognise when someone is truly being offensive as apposed to making a faux pas which if we were honest we all have done at some time or other. I learned a lot from reading the chimp paradox about human behaviour, it has calmed me down and let me understand why others are sometimes harsh. |
