"The only winner this year is UK.. made the history with 0 points good job
How is that history? We've had 0 points before.
I think we hold the record for most times
Over Norway?"
I may have to Google it |

"We should withdraw. It's just political
They won't let us. We help fund it lol
We need to Eurovisexit "
It gets good ratings in this country.
Eurovision has an interesting history, about peace, music uniting people and testing new technology. A lot of live television tech was first developed for Eurovision with the BBC working with European partners.

The only serious point with Eurovision is that money I pay for my licence supports that program. I’d rather it doesn’t - if Eurovision was a country we would be sending peacekeepers in to eradicate the corruption. |

Italy - worthy winners but I’m a metalhead - thought the song was brilliant
But maybe it’s time for the U.K. to withdraw funding as one of the big 5 - it might mean we have to qualify via the semifinals but we will save a bundle |

And actually, separating the viewer and jury votes out, you really what the European (and Israeli and Australian) populations actually think. In the past, it was just one set of results and it looked even more skewed. Ireland used to give us 10 or 12 and we reciprocated. Etc |

We would win it with a Ska song.
We're trying too hard to be popular.
Plus it would reflect our diverse culture.
Besides the winners never carry on being big hit wonders, they are forgotten till the next review.
The nil pointers are always remembered....weirdly. |

True statement like where are all the winners from previous competitions it just goes to show how rigged the system is sure one year blue a well established band couldn't win it the proof is in the pudding there |

I know they have been doing it for a few years now but how does the public voting work.Did no one call to vote for the UK song is that why he got 0 points.I think Italy got over 300 points in the public vote and Iceland got 180 points does that mean 180 people called to give Iceland there vote. |

We came last in 2019. Third last in 2018. And now last in 2021.
Prior to these, we had top 2 finishes 20 times.
Our song was acceptable, certainly not the worst. I thought it was good enough to get near the left side. Our stage presence was dire.
Joke voting again. So predictable in places.
How much do we actually spend on this these days? Maybe time to join the pack and take our chances in the semi-finals.
And I never want to hear the winning song again. It is dire!

It will be a system similar to that although I have no idea how many real votes count as one Eurovision vote. The UK obviously didn't get the minimum amount of votes to chalk up one point |

This looked exciting. I wish I’d watched and joined in this thread. It seemed so much fun to share along the way.
I heard a Norway’s and Italy’s entry last night. Very different but both were good. The staging was amazing. Not at all like Eurovision of the past. I think the last one I had a glimpse at was in the early 90s.
Wasn’t Norway’s named after someone in the Forum....? |

There will always will be politics when you talk about different countries, but the winner always have something that stands out. Now if UK would have been in top 10 - THAT would be political, because the song was rubbish |

Sort of… basically it is the same as the national jury votes added all 38 voting countries together….
So for example… the uk jury made up of music professionals gave their 12 points to France and 10 points to Switzerland … but the uk popular vote of us normals gave our 12 points to Lithuania and 10 points to Iceland…
So basically the music professionals 1,2,3,4 was Switzerland, France, Malta, Italy ……. But the popular vote 1,2,3,4 was Italy, Finland , France, Iceland |

Why are they wasting their money? They pay a pittance and in the process get hours of programming with big figures. The cost of this for the BBC is a fraction of what it costs for an episode of Casualty |

His family and friends would have to be outside the UK to vote for him. You can't vote for your own country.

Bill Bailey has said he'll do it next year. I hope the UK selectors take him up on this. He'll write something original, play it straight (for laughs) and he'll have his show for the next tour written on the back of it.

My favourite was the Ukraine song, it was manic, stomping, a proper drinking song after coming back from slaughtering an army of Wiblings.
The lead singer looked amazing like the bride of Dracula from another dimension.
One of the best Eurovision's.
