Ever tempted to start a new forum post in the forum but never do?

What stops you?

Can't find a topic?

Do think it would just die a death?

Even if it did...does it matter?

Or, do you enjoy starting new forum posts?

How do you come up with your topics.

For me...it can be about anything.

Though normally nothing too heavy.

What's your style of forum posting?

I like starting new forum threads.

Usually something just pops into my head and I create a thread - it might be a sentence I like the sound of or an idea that has sprung up because of another post.

Some fly and others don't and I'm happy with a smattering of posts on it. Either way I enjoy doing it.

My posting style is free form, slightly abstract with a tint of the surreal, I’m prone to going off on tangents and subverting the mainstream, I’m very much an outsider and I plough my own furlough (furrow), I undermine my own threads so they barely reach double figures, I have a terrible attention span and are prone to flights of fancy. I am prone to overusing the word ‘prone’. If you see a random capital letter in my text I’ve either googled how to spell it or I’ve used the dicta phone.

Pot luck if you succeed or crash!

This is a very clicky site so 2 people could write the exact same post and the outcome and responses would be completely different.

Just thread away and enjoy whatever the aftermath

It’s about “energy”. Sometimes I think of something that I find interesting but perhaps a little contentious. I could start a thread on it and try hard to nuance my narrative, but somewhere along the line I will offend someone (it is the nature of the 21st Century).

Having to then contextualise what I have originally written for the easily offended just takes too much energy, and I can’t be arsed to waste mine in someone else’s echo chamber of belief.

It’s just easier to watch from afar, contribute where possible and with the lightest of touches, than to set yourself up for feeling shit as some virtue signalling keyboard warrior takes the moral “high ground” (which they have formulated in their “cause of the month” echo chamber) then fires several “ist” labels at you, in an effort to reduce the amount of “things they don’t like to read, so I will shut down”

I may have gone off on one. Anyway, bloody weather today eh?

Secret hideaway in the pennines

Most of the time, I post random crap it can be thought , musings poems all sorts of rubbish, occasionally the odd serious thread, some have died a death, some haven't, a lot depends on when its posted.

I posted one this morning which within about 30 mins dropped off the page, I thought it was a nice little verse

There are several threads doing the rounds at the moment that I will continue to avoid, I really can’t be bothered to waste energy in there arguing with people, I only get wound up over the topics, I don’t even click on them cause I know exactly what’s being said, so ultimately it’s pointless and futile. Thats why I prefer to talk complete bollocks and amuse myself.

I mostly don't start topics because I don't have anything relevant to say.

I chime in on other people's threads if there's something I want to express, or respond to.

I've learned that my perspectives are often considered weird or unpopular, but hey, *I* am weird and unpopular. Hah.

If it died a death it would seriously damage my street cred so I wouldn't want to do that. I don't often start threads, my ramblings are bad enough in posts rather than taking over threads. Sometimes I just don't have the energy. I can also predict responses to the ones I've thought of starting previously and that takes the fun out of it somewhat.

So yes. A waffling myriad of reasons.

I can't be bothered with it anymore. Somebody created a "good luck" thread yesterday for me and it barely got any posts....which speaks volumes as to who gives a shit about me after 6 years in the Forums.

Also, if you don't respond to everyone, people throw a hissy fit and think you are being "selective" which is not the case. It causes too much stress these days.

I think the plethora of tedious lockdown threads has left everyone drained of enthusiasm. Meli created a great thread yesterday, first one for a while that has had an upbeat, inclusive feel to it where everyone participated nicely. It was fun and enjoyable.

There is only so much angry, bun fight, antagonistic thread participation you can take before it’s time to walk away and leave it alone for a while.

It does seem to have changed in the forum over the last few days, a few old familiar members have started to return.

I think I'm in the minority in that I like the serious debate threads...it's good mental exercise

I rarely start threads, and aside from the odd birthday one for a friend, it's either because I want to know something (like my most recent what do ladies wear to clubs one), or because I'm bored and want a debate

I leave the thread and do sommat else

Tilting at windmill's not my bag!

I like to post on others threads but when it's all fuck , kiss , shit I don't bother.
