"I think Tom Hiddleston would make a good bond. More in the ilk of Roger Moore.
"
Definitely and he can act as well as the physical stuff.
What about Benedict cucumberbitch not sure he's good looking enough but certainly has intensity. |

"Idris Elba.
For his attitude.
He's not good enough in my opinion.
Comes across as arrogant
"
Bond is arrogant, therefore might be the right man for the job.
Sam Heughan is too much of a pretty boy, and of the action films I've seen him in (Red Notice, and something with Vin Diesel) he was deeply unconvincing.
I liked Daniel Craig, thought he was akin to the Bond that Fleming wrote about. I want to see an outsider be given the role. |

If they shake the franchise up how about a comedy like Casino Royale with David Niven was?
Samuel Jackson - potty mouth Black James Bond with attitude?
Will they go like Dr Who? Jamie Bond? |

They shook up the franchise with a ‘blonde Bond’ so why not Idris Elba or Chiwetel Ejiofor, let’s see a black actor in the role.
If not Christian Bale or Tom Hardy would get the nod from me.
As a real outsider bet though I quite like the idea of Kit Harington from Game of Thrones (Jon snow) doing the role, although I think he’s a bit too young currently. |

Depends how far away from the upper class hero and stereotype British spy you want to take it. Yes, Bond is the upper class hero.
Idris Elba is too rough and rugged to pull that role off. Amazing actor, but for the true fantasy Bond role, no.
Chiwetel Ejiofor on the other hand, spot on. He can pull off the upper class accent well and would suit the role much better.
Same goes for Tom Hiddleston vs Tom Hardy. It just comes down to how close to classic Bond you want. |

"Rege-Jean Page
Just because I like to perve on him
It’s about his acting skills - shame on you trivialising such an Important thread ! "
No idea who he is but he looks the part.
…and I don’t think the brand would survive it not being either person of colour or a woman. …my money will not be on Idris unless he bulk-buys elocution lessons first. Bond is public school!! |

"Aiden (Poldark) Turner gets my vote "
Ooh, just watched him in Leonardo on Prime. Fabulous!
But I'd have to go with Tom Hiddleston or Michael Fassbender.
If they don't want a well known, the Sam Heughan.
Actually, I had a dream about those three last night. We were in a sauna...... |

I agree it has to be an outsider.
They can't outshine James Bond, if you like.

As much as I'd like to see Tom Hardy become Bond, he is unfortunately too old now for a multi film contract. So best to be an unknown.
Out of interest, why does the next Bond have to be a person of colour and/or a Woman to survive?
The franchise has survived by keeping fairly close to its origins for well over 60 years. The latest film has already become one of the highest rated and grossing out of the entire series. Impressive given the recent pandemic, and the fact that everything in Hollywood has turned Woke. If anything, trying to shake up the series at this point "Just because" will be ringing the death bell. Exactly the same as has happened with the likes of Dr Who, Star Wars, Star Trek etc.
It's a formula that works. Leave it that way. And create new Characters/Franchises with interesting stories/origins and good writing to become successful in their own merits. Not to simply ride on the back of a behemoth of a much loved series. |

Ooh I hadn't considered him! Yes please
Or Idris Elba.
I think Barbara Brocoli is right, Bond can't be female but it's about time we had a more ethnically diverse Bond. |

To be fair, Bond was sacked from Eton for "girl trouble" |

"Best Bonds we NEVER had: The late Lewis Collins and Gregg Wise in his younger Sense and Sensibility era days (The latter, funnily enough, DID just play Bond on Strictly though….)"
Agree. Lewis Collins would have been incredible in the role |

"Tom Hardy x
Not that mumbler."
I think your judging him on some of his roles rather than his acting.
He played one of the Kray brothers really well in Legend, and shows he brushes up and wears a suit really well.
I think he'd be pretty good. |

It has to be someone fairly unknown like the others have been.
Idris Elba- forever will be known to us as Luther and Stringer Bell.
Tom Hardy- too well known.
Cillian Murphy- Mr Shelby.
Tom Ellis is a good shout. He's in Miranda, I think?? |

Another one (failing Aiden Turner and Rege Jean Page): James Norton.
He’s been in lots of things including playing the highly likeable clergyman lead, Sidney in Grantchester.
He can also just as easily play a nasty piece of work though, as evidenced when he played a real villainous and irredeemable piece of shit in, Happy Valley (which really was most decidedly NOT happy in any way, shape or form!) |
