Something different to talk about for a change..i am luckey enough to have hedgehogs in the garden 3 ,so i feed them hedgehog food or cat meat or cat biscuits and water ,they are fun little things and can really run ,there only enemy is the Badger and cars and humans, this time of year they breed and the mum will kill them if disturbed. If you have a garden shed they be underneath it ,theses animals are so cute ..

Put cat food out in a tin every night and they come and enjoy themselves. Favourite wild animal

Also good to make small holes in fences so they can move between gardens.

They are very cute.

A few months ago, I saw a fox running over the road to an adjacent field... a few seconds later a hedgehog ran after it.

Not something I was expecting to see

Sounds like a spiky character.

Used to have one come in and raid the cats biscuit bowl, one summer. Had the back door open until bedtime and you could hear him tapping his way from the door to the bowl, then the bowl tip... Actually caught him in the bowl one night, stuffing his face. Absolutely loved that

Somewhere In The Ether…

One of my favourite animals - they’re so damned cute!

Did you know that baby hedgehogs are called Hoglets? (and are utterly adorable!)

Just seen an article about British hedgehogs in New Zealand. They were taken there by settlers over 200 years ago but as an "invasive" species they are decimating the local wildlife and may need to be culled.

I’ve a rescue hedgehog in my garden as it’s quite enclosed, he’s about 4 now... and can’t be released as he only has 3 legs and wouldn’t be able to forage enough to put weight in to hibernate winter.

So I see him most evenings out at his dish eating cat meat

Don’t feed them bread and milk. It can make them ill. Cat food as others have said.

Love them they are the cutest xx they run incredibly fast considering their spikes and that they are so close to the floor with their little legs

Had shed lifted to make space underneath. Although not their favourite food, they will eat slugs. So win win.

*left wondering why forum rules reminder flashed up on above????*

They turn up and eat the chickens food that they don't finish. Like you say foxes are a problem but the terrier will sort them. We see them on the cam shuffling in to eat.

simple solution really, capture alive, quarantine/health checks & send them back to UK, our populations are depleting.
