Metallica
But I found it hilariously ironic that they got DMCA'd while playing live on Twitch for BlizzCon.
Seeing as they are one of the main reasons DMCA even exists with their fued with Napster |

Ahh the good old twitch dmca drama!!!
It's one of the reasons a certain software was taken down!
Back in topic though, out of Thin Lizzy or Metallica, the Thin Lizzy definitely wins.
Always love hearing folk bands sing it though esp in pubs! |

Volbeat. "
Damn. You have good taste. The only group I haven’t come across is Volbeat - not for long (switches hurriedly to Spotify app). |

"And guess what has just come on my playlist.
Yep this one!"
It came on mine earlier and was arguing with my daughter which was the best version! Prompted the thread |

Lizzy and Lynott all day long for the rock version. Sure wasn’t it then who came up with it.
There’s no arising against that. Metallica just a copycatting of the idea. The real musos will know where it’s at |

I used to work in an O’Neils bar in my youth, this was a song we played at the end of the night when us bar staff had to dance on the bar & encourage customers to dance on the tables!
It was the Dubliners version...
Happy days of youth, that was a fun job! |

Wow what a moment that must have been! Love it! |

It was awesome. Then on the Friday I saw Def leppard headline. And on the Saturday I saw slipknot headline.
Awesome time and memories |

on the road to nowhere in particular |
Metallica tried to rip Thin Lizzie off by not paying royalties after they recorded it by claiming it was an old Irish folk song. They hadn’t realised that Phil Lynott changed the lyrics from the original song.
End result, they had to pay up |
