Been a while since I picked up a book but the boredom is getting to me, so I have started "The witch finders sister"
It is a little slow to get going so I hope it picks up soon |

"The Appointment by Katharina Volkmier.
It's short, subversive, perverted and and very funny. Kinda like my dream partner. "
Sounds like a good book to me! |

I bought myself a couple of books for Christmas Ivy. One is Victoria Woods’ biography - which I’ve started on - and the other is ‘The Tattooist of Auchwitz’ - which I’ll be reading next. X |

The tattooist of Auchwitz is a very good read but it’s graphic and upsetting. But it’s expected. I enjoyed it. |

Tbh I don’t mind that. It’s time I read something ‘real’ instead of chick lit! X |

If you do read it I'd love to hear your opinion. I mean, it's had rave reviews and that, but that's from the literary set. |

I've just finished The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley. It was enjoyable but I guessed the plot twist before the big reveal. Haven't decided what to read next. |

There and to the left a bit |
About 50 pages into Cilka's Journey which is the follow up to Tattoist Of Auschwitz and is the "factional" tale of one of the other characters in the book.
Not long finished Peter James' "Find Them Dead" which is the most recent in his Roy Grace series of books |

2 books
1. God's funeral -philosophy
2. The Justice Factory 2nd edition - will the rule OF law survive in 21st century Scotland - legal (basically comparing the laws now with how Russia operate)...they've tried to ban it already..
So if this new hate bill gets passed which makes v for vendetta type laws such as 'approved' reading materials & art, I'd become a criminal for owning it.. |

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact |
Quiet by Susan Cain. It's a study about the value of introverts. I'm about 3/4 way through. Had to take a break due to a personal situation. I found it quite enlightening.
Waiting for the postman to drop off House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski. This book seems to have a real cult following with Facebook groups formed around it. I'm a light reader so I hope it's not too challenging for me but I've had enough of Youtube/Fab/BBC News/work emails and my mind needs a change of scenery. |

'House of Leaves' is not a 'light read'.
I read it when it was first published and you'll either think it's a work of unparalled genius or a load of old bollocks.
It has been variously described as 'postmodern', 'poststructural' and displaying 'avant-garde literary techniques'.
Article in the Guardian from last year ('House of Leaves' was published 20 years ago): https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/apr/02/house-of-leaves-changed-my-life-the-cult-novel-at-20 (read the comments as well to give you a 'flavour' of the book's reception).
Personnally I would rather read 'Ulysses' by Joyce again than tackle 'House of Leaves' for a second time.
Currently reading 'Flappers: Six Women of a Dangerous Generation' by Judith Mackrell - a non-fiction book about 6 women who typified the 1920s. |

My bedtime reading is Boomeritis, an educational novel by Ken Wilber, probably one of the greatest philosophers of our time. The book is an ironic, mockery of post-modern worldviews and is an enlightening, funny and challenging manual for falling awake ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I read the article before. However your comment daunts me now. I'll give it a go though. |

Read a great book about the history of Europe since 1950 to about now. Good to see how massive crises have been dealt with and we've come through better for it, puts the current on in perspective.
Now on to Rob Halfords biography, it's funny and filthy ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |
