One of my college buddies and I got talking about government spies the other day and she is convinced that pidgeons are secret government spies fitted with cameras her reasoning was that you never see a baby pigeon.. now as much as I thought she’s bonkers she does have a valid point. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a young pigeon ever. Have you? Could she be onto something? Lol

"The stay in the nest till they are old enough to fly. By that point they look like a normal pigeon."

I can confirm this. There's a nest on the roof of the nest building to my work. Been watching them hatch & grow for a couple of years now.

Of course, they could still be captured & reprogrammed once they've learnt to fly.....

There is a subreddit (similar to a facebook page) on Reddit called "birds aren't real" with quite a big following who are convinced birds are actually government spy drones. There is actually a lot of info on there supporting this conspiracy theory lol. I think its bollocks, but that's only my opinion.

To be honest, I think she's messing you about... or is very gullible.

BirdsArentReal is a 'fake' conspiracy started by a 20 year old philosophy student to show how easy it is to start a conspiracy, even if it is totally stupid and based on mistruths.

So it's spread a lot by people who just want to just have a laugh at conspiracy theory followers.

He has a website (BirdsArentReal) that details even more crazy facts about why birds can't be real... and sells loads of merch.

Interesting that they were a philosophy student who started this. One of our group wants to study philosophy further. I think she was genuinely serious. She also has an irrational phobia of primates especially gorillas. My college mates are a very interesting bunch.

We genuinely learnt about pigeons in our psychology lesson the other day they have their own magnetic field for location and they’ve tried to replicate it in humans using a magnetic belt with mixed results. I’m telling you pigeons are the stuff of sci Fi.

"I think Alfred Hitchcock was trying to warn us all with his classic, The Birds.

It’s coming to pass I tell thee!

I'm more concerned about the machines going on line!My lap top went weird earlier and sent messages to people of its own accord.

And Arnie's to old to save us yet again x

‘Tis true; I have Alexa and she has a serious attitude issue: She refuses to answer even the simplest of questions, spies on me and is even sarcastic and semi rude to me on occasion.

Mind you.....she does have a nice voice so when the machines take over, it will at least sound soothing if nothing else "

I can’t even say her name without fear of triggering mine.

She’s a pain and she’s definitely not sexy but Siri on the other hand when you switch him to

Female now she’s got a nice voice.

Responding to various points in this thread:

- Lots of animals have a magnetic sense. I've read about at least one study that suggests this very much includes humans.

- Fear of non-human primates is entirely understandable. They're definitely on the slopes of the Uncanny Valley.

- I've seen baby pigeons. Came across a nest while exploring an abandoned building. They were small and fluffy and nervous, and I quickly backed away and left them alone so as not to distress them.

- Crows are fucking brilliant. Incredibly smart, very sophisticated, much better people than most humans. One of the worst things about the pandemic is that because all the takeaways around here are closed, the flock of nearly thirty crows that lived around here dispersed and I don't see them any more. More friends that I'm missing.

Nope, 5G is fitted in all the new lampposts that are popping up everywhere (said lampposts are also charging points for pigeons as well). Pigeons are in fact fitted with 7G, they're future proofed

As a young teen I kept pigeons

Mostly racing

A few tumblers and 4 fantails ( they are like the pin up girls and hunks in the pigeon world)

After about 1 years a mating pair had chicks,

I Can tell you this OP young pigeons are one of nature's ugly creations,

Picture a giant ant with no legs a beek and 2 stumps that eventually turn to wings,,

There are plenty about, a guy breeds them not that far away and he has dozens of baby ones every year so they most definitely do exist I have seen them.

"To be honest, I think she's messing you about... or is very gullible.

Sounds like they should be studied

You’ve just solved it... we need to breed more cats to kill these sky rats. Although I do firmly believe that cats could and will take over the world one day.

"Where do they go to die? You never see them drop out of the sky or dead on a pavement"

Pigeons? Yeah, you do. I also see them splattered by cars and torn apart by peregrine falcons. There was a dead one in the courtyard at work before the pandemic. I've also seen my local crows devouring the corpses.

I’ve worked on loads of roofs in London and I can confirm that there are an absolute shitload of pigeon nests and baby pigeons. Seen them in all sorts of places. Last one was underneath a temporary set of stairs leading to a balcony at Koko. Sorry for pissing on your mates campfire

Somewhere In The Ether…

Funny enough, I was in my garden earlier when I suddenly became aware of the oppressive stare of maliferous eyes upon me.

I looked up to see a Robin.

Clearly he/she was an agent of some shady government agency or secret cabal....so I ran back indoors and locked myself in.

Be warned, it’s a full on avian conspiracy folks

Those bastards are evil incarnate! Deadly on both the ground with savage beaks and skilled aerial combatants to, flying in squadrons whilst gabbling noisily and dropping faecal bombardment on us!

Tbh was a while ago this year not pointing the finger directly at guys but you know when the lady is trying to get his attention and he doesn't even flinch well you'd think this magpie was stoned or something full concentration doubt was a interesting movie but the birdie was enjoying it shame it never got to see the end as it was way past 11pm it's bedtime love my wild birdies have over 15 years generation after generation of families think they are all spying because at meal times they all eat together which is unusual crow pigeon magpie thrush list goes on
