This is ridiculous i know but i have a phobia of fish as food.
I have aquarium in my work place, i love visiting them in central london, but when i see a fish on a plate, especially if the eyes are still there, without a doubt i would faint. Its so weird and uncomfortable so i always skip places that serve fish or dont eat with people who are about to order fish lol |

It used to be failure.
I'm over that now. Took a lot of introspection and realising that depending on the situation, you can't not fail if others are steering the boat in another direction.
The true failure there is sacrificing who you really are to prevent the initial failure you were fearful of in the first place. |

I have a fish phobia too, but it's live ones.
I used to be phobic of anything old that could possibly die....so cut flowers, plants, injured animals and old people.
I was in councelling for 7 years!
It affected my life in many ways, I couldn't have flowers in the house, or plants in the garden. I couldn't keep pets incase they died. Road kill had me having panic attacks at the wheel, and I couldn't use public transport or walk on narrow pavements incase I came into contact with someone old who might touch me.
An incident with an old lady carrying flowers and placing her hand on my shoulder in a supermarket led me to being hospitalised. That's how severe it was.
Ive been free from those phobias ( mostly) for about 5 years now, and I've learned coping strategies for when they creep up.
Around 7 years ago I developed another phobia, which I'm not allowed talk about on here. This particular phobia is very difficult to avoid in everyday life, and has left me with PTSD, which is partly the reason for me leaving the scene.
Huge sympathies to anyone who suffers x

I'm severely overdue for my blood draws because pandemic (have had the condition for 20-odd years, I'm pretty sure I'm fine, I understand it pretty well). My coping mechanisms involve biting myself, which I imagine will not be cool with a mask on.

Not really.
I think it stems from my trust issues (if that's makes sense)
It's expanded from people to objects and surroundings I can't control.
It's not the fear of dying, it's more the uncertainty and not being able to control it

Biting while wearing a mask isn't good.
I'm suprised you havn't had blood taken as normal though, i must be lucky (or unlucky) with my GP surgery as i have had blood taken at least twice possibly more during the pandemic. |

No, but... I had a very good GP when I was a kid who helped me from "everyone hold the screaming maniac down" to "bite myself and whimper". I'm not sure what would happen if I couldn't. I'm still afraid, I just don't take it out on people anymore I guess.
I was asked in the summer, I forgot, and I think we've hit "oh shit" again and they're not pushing me. (Normally when I avoid - phobia - they ration my medication until I woman up and go in ) |

Happens. Really normal. The suspicion with my needle phobia is that during my infant vaccinations I picked up on my mum's anxiety and it stayed with me.
I'm for blood tests to keep me alive, I go out of my way to get all the vaccinations (waiting to hear back from trials), I used to give blood before the NHS slapped me with a life ban Still fucking terrified. Happens, brains are weird. |

I get this. I have a similar dislike to another particular group of people, but don't want to cause offence by saying who. It's not as bad as a phobia, but it makes me feel panicky when I see them. |

Was stung as a child, someone peed on me (old wives tale) I remember being told to keep my eyes closed. Hurt. A. Lot |

Oh yes, some of them very badly. I was made to be frightened during a family holiday to Menorca. A girl my age was badly stung on her legs, she spent many days in hospital and when she came back to the hotel, her legs were bandaged, swollen and she was on crutches etc. It really put the frighteners up the 10/11yr old me and it's stuck basically. |

Apparently it's called Pistanthrophobia.
Three years into the relationship, freshly engaged and all my brain can think of is: "He's going to leave you any minute now for someone better." |

In my yoof I did sky dives and rock climbing and all that stuff without a care.
Now I get the fear going down an escalator

Pot holing. I live in london so there is no need for me to engage in such an activity but it makes me feel anxious just thinking about it. However I'm such a stubborn/masochist arsehole that I'd probably do it just to prove a point to myself. |

Mice and Rats absolutely despise all of them. In fact I can't even watch them on the telly.
And something quirkt thing that effects my everyday life is, of and when I'm carrying bank notes in my back pocket the notes must be in order that is to say highest denomination at the back so for instance £50,20,10 & £5 notes in that order and all facing in the same way with Queen facing upwards |
