Somewhere In The Ether…

West life - Uptown Girl or possibly A1’s amazing cover of Ah Ha’s, Take On Me. Both covers clearly bettering the originals.

(I may be displaying sarcasm here for anyone in doubt...)

Or the Hannah and Her Sister’s horrific cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic, Bridge Over Troubled Water - (ye gods that was not only awful, but a sacrilegious cover to boot!)

Rugby

Valerie by the Zutons and then a friendly cover by Amy Winehouse is great. Done differently but both brilliant.

Tainted Love is better on a good original as is Its my Life by No Doubt as well.

This time I’m being serious; Not necessarily better than the original but on par and commendably, a very different spin on it: Take That’s cover of Barry Manilow’s, Could It Be Magic.

Come on, I can’t be the only fan of it here?

There are a number of great covers of "I Fought The Law" knocking about, especially some live versions.

Any Bob Dylan song that's been covered is an improvement on the original. My Back Pages by Steve Earle is one that comes straight to mind.

Blinded by the light, Manfred Mann's earthband. Original by Bruce Springsteen, totally unrecognisable and different. No point in doing a cover if it sounds exactly the same.
