"West life - Uptown Girl or possibly A1’s amazing cover of Ah Ha’s, Take On Me. Both covers clearly bettering the originals.
(I may be displaying sarcasm here for anyone in doubt...)
" I was worried about you then thought you was gonna add sugar based version of under the bridge to that list |

Or the Hannah and Her Sister’s horrific cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic, Bridge Over Troubled Water - (ye gods that was not only awful, but a sacrilegious cover to boot!) |

Yes! I watched it expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. |

This time I’m being serious; Not necessarily better than the original but on par and commendably, a very different spin on it: Take That’s cover of Barry Manilow’s, Could It Be Magic.
Come on, I can’t be the only fan of it here?
....anyone? |

There are a number of great covers of "I Fought The Law" knocking about, especially some live versions.
Any Bob Dylan song that's been covered is an improvement on the original. My Back Pages by Steve Earle is one that comes straight to mind.

Blinded by the light, Manfred Mann's earthband. Original by Bruce Springsteen, totally unrecognisable and different. No point in doing a cover if it sounds exactly the same.
Fortunate son, not strictly a cover as it's the foo fighters and John fogerty. |

Any cover by Guns N Roses, they seem to make it their own. Heaven's door, Live and let die, Raw Power, New Rose, I don't care about you. Have more oomph than the original, I think. |

DropKick Murphy’s cover of green fields of France
Amazing vocals

"Heart - stairway to heaven.
Was that a cover version or a one off performance for the Kennedy Awards. A great performance and the first thing I ever viewed on YouTube "
According to Nancy Wilson her nerves were shredded playing that in front of Robert, Jimmy and John Paul |
