The first Alien film where Ripley is getting the the escape craft with all the steam pipes hissing away & it pops out of the workings.
& the original Jaws when Dreyfus is diving the boat & the one eyed head pops out the hole.

There was a movie called Bugs we used to have on video recorded from the TV. I was probably about 10 at the time. It was about some cockroach type insects that could start fires.
There was one on a phone and it set fire to this woman's hair when she answered the phone. I still remember it 35 years later |

Exorcist III - the death of nurse Amy. You see it happening after a long scene from a fixed angle that builds the expectation /dread. Even more brilliant because you don't actually see the deed. The musical cue is chilling. |

"the last film to genuinely scare me was The original nightmare on elm street, it was inside my head and i could not sleep properly for weeks "
Same, that proper messed me for ages. Was scared to go to the toilet on my own and had to pull the shower curtain back before I'd go in the bathroom, then flush n run down the stairs. I was skipping stairs the lot. |

I am a total wimp when it comes to scary films and in person I am so jumpy! haha!
I remember even the Roald Dahl Witches movie freaked me our and gave me nightmares as a kid...those witches with the no toes eek!
And when I was 13ish watching children of the corn at a sleepover, think that traumatized me going past fields after that

Children of the corn was haunting, especially being a teen at that time. |

Alien - Dallas in the ducts, with Lambert screaming at him that the alien is getting closer, wo he goes down the ladder, turns around and...
The brief glimpse and the cut away made me properly jump out of my skin!

The end of the original 'Carrie' when the arm comes out the grave.
'The Haunting' (1963) is probably the creepiest film I've watched and 'Carnival of Souls' (1962).
The beginning of 'Night of the Living Dead' in the graveyard. |

American werewolf in London when he open the curtains. Still scared of that thing!
Also the dog from Cujo! With the sliver dribbling all over the place. |

The Freddie Kruger films always bloody terrified me!
If someone said ‘Freddie’s coming for you’ I almost wet myself!
One, two
Freddie’s coming for you!
Three, four
Better lock your door!
Five, six
Grab your crucifix!
