I think this is a great film from 1983 fantastic soundtrack, great performance by Bowie. I had a maths teacher in school who was a prisoner of the Japanese, and he loathed them. Great cinematography and atmosphere, stays in your mind. And the great haunting soundtrack. I miss 1983,when I was sweet 16,and saw it. What are your views on the film?.

Somewhere In The Ether…

Brilliant film

The Railway Man starring Colin Firth is a similarly themed film well worth watching

I never quite understand why Bowie kisses the commandant of the camp, and what ensues afterwards? I thought that the samurai were OK with homosexuality?. He acted very well in the film, and great soundtrack, but sad ending, I miss 1983.
